"We need to talk about last night."

It was the thing Orion didn't want to hear. The night before was crazy enough, resulting in someone getting clipped by his hand; he didn't want to deal with his sister riding him about it. Yet here he was, standing before her as she was seated in the dining area with that ugly bell wrapped around her finger; of course it was the one time she wanted to eat at the same time as him.

"There's nothing to talk about," Orion replied, "what happened, happened. The guy got what he deserved, 'Cretia."

Lucretia scowled, folding her hands on her lap and giving him a stony look.

"It was a simple drop, Orion!" she exclaimed, "How in the hell do you turn that into a hit?"

Orion gripped his cane. He wanted to use the thing to smack the ruby red lipstick off her smug face.

"If he didn't act so suspicious, I wouldn't have had to smoke the joint," he replied, shrugging nonchalantly.

Lucretia pinched the bridge of her nose. "This is the the third time, Orion, and Ma ain't happy with that."

"What am I supposed to do?" Orion demanded, "Act saint-like?"

He examined his nails. "Far as I'm concerned, everyone and everything has a time to die."

His sister narrowed her eyes at him. When her normally grey orbs darken, he knew that she was going to say something real sharp; and it was going to get ugly.

"How 'bout the next time you wanna play God, you let the more important people know 'bout it," Lucretia said in a chilling tone. "We are supposed to be keeping the bloodlines pure and safe while we work drops and get dough.

She straightened her posture in her chair. "If you keep mucking it up, you're going to be knocked off next."

Orion snarled; he was not going to stand for this. "I was the one to get this business off the ground with Ma. I was the one to keep us off the radar," he said as he pointed at her, "and I was the one to stick my neck out for this family when the feds showed up. Does that mean nothing?"

"Your words are hollow, Orion," Lucretia said, "this is the final warning. Either straighten up, or there will be consequences."

His nose flared. How dare his own sister threaten him in such a way? He'll be damned before he succumbed to her wishes. She wasn't Ma, and he wasn't going at act like she was.

"Why don't you take that threat and shove it up your skirt," Orion said before storming out of the dining room; he had lost his appetite.

Orion would show her who was the bigger Don in the family. He didn't need her, and they would see that she and Ma needed him.
