Journal,
I know I shouldn't wish for it.
He's just so perfect and I'm just a plain Jane.
He's the wide receiver for the school's football team.
I'm the captain of the chess team.
He's muscular.
I'm lanky.
He's into the head cheerleader.
Her perfect tan, platinum blonde locks, toned legs, stormy blue eyes, and her blinding pearly smile.
Me on the other hand, locks of auburn hair, eyes of rich milk chocolate with flecks of honey, skin paler than Casper, and braces.
But mostly he wouldn't look at me because of one thing.
I'm a guy.
He's a guy.
We don't play for the same team.
Wish he would look at me the way he looks at her.
Caress my cheek with his calloused hands.
Oh, Derek Morgan, if only you would even look my way.
I would give anything for you to see me the way I see you.
Passing by in the hallways, seeing him with his hands all over Jennifer.
It hurts.
But, he's not mine.
"Hey! Reid!" He called me after gym class.
"Yes?" I squeaked. Refusing to make eye contact.
"I just wanted to ask, because I've heard some rumors."
"Ask what?" my palms were sweaty, I could feel my heart banging against my chest.
"If you were dating that Sophomore, Emily. Since you two are always together." He crosses his arms in front of his chest.
"No, she's just my best friend." I continue to dodge eye contact.
"Oh, okay." He nods.
"If that's all, I have a class to get to." I turn on my heel about to book it.
"No, it's not. I know the way you look at me. Is there something you want to tell me?" He grabbed my shoulder before I could run.
"Um-no." turning once more.
"Don't worry, you're kinda cute too." He smiles smugly.
"How'd you know?" if I had any color in my face, it's long gone by now.
"Don't think I don't catch you looking my way. You aren't that good at hiding it, but you don't have to."
"And why is that?" my voice cracking.
"Because I like you too. Maybe we could go out some time." Derek suggests.
All this time, I thought he wasn't into boys.
This is news to me.
GREAT NEWS.
"Uh, Reid?" He waves a hand in front of my face.
"Oh, um yes, that would be really nice." I look at his bright white smile.
"Good, the school is having a dance on Friday, be my date?" He takes my hand into his.
"Yes." I smile in return.
Best Day EVER.
Your's truly,
Spencer "Pretty Ricky" Reid
