Chapter 1: Little Sister

Stephanie Spencer was an average 16 year old. She was that was until her parents died and she had to go live with her 24 year old brother who pretended he was psychic.

"Hello" a dark-skinned man asked. Stephanie hadn't seen her brother since he was 19. She looked up at him confused; she was positive this was Shawn's address.

"Um yes…….is there a man by the name of Shawn Spencer" she asked. The man looked her up and down as if he was a cop. He seemed familiar to her, but she couldn't place it.

"Hey dude! There's girl here for you" he called.

"I told you not to answer the door" Shawn called to him. Shawn arrived in the doorway and the two siblings just stared at each other. Gus stared at the two of them.

"Good to see you Shawn" Stephanie said looking away from him. Shawn pretended to be interested in the bush suddenly.

"Same here. Come in, I'll show you your room" he said. Gus followed them confused by the previous scene. They walked into a medium size room that was light blue with pink and green flowers on it.

"Wow it's……..um…………..nice. Thanks bro. I erm, love you" Stephanie said. She plopped her luggage onto the blue carpet.

"Um….one of my friends is an artist and I asked them to come in and do this for you" Shawn told her awkwardly. Gus sighed in frustration.

"Can I speak to you for a moment Shawn" he asked through gritted teeth. I swear! Sometimes Shawn is an idiot Gus thought. Shawn followed him out of the room and into the hallway.

"What's wrong" Shawn asked nonchalantly. Gus crossed his arms.

"Dude, I'd like to know who that girl is! Is she like your girlfriend or something? And why are you being so awkward with her" Gus yelled. Shawn cocked an eyebrow and told him.

"That's my sister. And ew dude! I would not go out with my little sister" Shawn exclaimed. Gus looked shocked.

"That's Steph? She looks so…….different since the last time I saw her" he breathed. She looked rather attractive, his best friend's little sister!

"Yeah well, the last time you saw her was when she was 10 years old. Now, she's 16; there's a gap of time since you've seen her" Shawn told him matter-of-factly. Steph slid out of her new room unnoticed and overheard the last part. The only person that she could have seen 10 years previously that knew her brother was Gus, Shawn's only friend at that time.

"Gus? Is that really you" she asked. Gus looked far from the shy teenager that she knew. He was looking more adult-like. Shawn cleared his throat when he saw Gus staring at her.

"Steph, look at you! You're all grown up" Gus teased. Steph laughed and hugged him.

"Look who's talking Burton" she teased. Gus gave her a friendly nuggie and laughed. He pulled away and looked at her.

"Why are you two so awkward with each other? What happened" he asked. Steph looked down at the ground.

"We had a fight right before Shawn left and I wish I could take every spiteful thing I said back" she told him. Shawn looked at his sister and suddenly grabbed her in a tight hug. Then, Gus' phone rang.

"I'm sorry Steph" Shawn said. They hugged each other tightly. Gus was suddenly in detective mode. The two of them looked over at him.

"Shawn, that was the chief. She said that we have a kidnapping and burglary case to solve" Gus said. Shawn and Gus got their jackets. Steph cocked an eyebrow.
