A/N: Hello all, so, this is my first real fanfic, please don't be too harsh. And, it looked a lot longer on MS word ( Also, 14th of May is when Bella first reads about the newspaper and the newborns... and the Cullens have been monitoring the situation for 'weeks', so I figured May 2nd would be an appropriate beginning ' Critique and suggestions welcome )
May 2nd
It was late out, when I first acknowledged the existence of vampires.
The near-full moon shone brightly in the cloudless, starry sky. There was not a sound, save for the distant and ever constant whirring of cars being driven. All those people with places to be, things to do. But not me, not today.
It wasn't safe to be out at night alone – it never is, and never will be, especially now, with the recent multitude of murders and all. Then again, they speculate it to be gang activity. Gangs wouldn't hang out in places like these… would they?
For no reason at all, I decided to take a chance, tonight. Something told me I had to e here, at this very moment. I know not what drove me, even now, as I look back. Had I not been out there that night, I wouldn't be who I am now: an almost mindless, insanely bloodthirsty monster.
16, plain-faced, and with a life more boring than death – what would you have done, if you were given a choice to become one of the eternally beautiful? Immortally elegant, I at once recognized the one who changed me – Riley, as I later learned, when I was somewhat sane again – for what he was, and is: a vampire.
He stood with his back to the moonlight. His face was turned so I only barely saw his other eye, but clearly both his eyes were a brilliant red, despite the lack of a light source. His strength was evident in his muscles, and his height fit him perfectly. He was also stunningly beautiful in his soft-looking blond hair, despite his vividly red eyes.I suppose vampires ought to be. He smiled slightly, and his eyes lit up.
"How lovely. A human, at this time of night." he said in a soft, silky, almost sweet voice, but it had a strange edge to it, of bitterness, of danger.
He moved an incredible distance in less than a heartbeat; his face was suddenly an inch from mine.
"So lovely. Let's hope you don't go to waste." he said, with a low, menacing laugh…
…and bit down on my arm.
A bloodcurdling scream escaped my lips.
And my world faded to black.
I really, really need a way to make this more dramatic. Suggestions please?
