Pidge was having a bad day. After the failure to gain any new information about the location of her father and her brother, anything she could be doing seemed futile. She couldn't play that game console with Lance, since they didn't have a TV, and even if she could have, it was doubtful that she would find much joy in it. At least not enough to pull her out of her current mood. She just felt... nothing.

She sat in her seat and sulked. Here she was, a paladin of Voltron, yet she still felt like a lost cause. Pidge wondered why she was here, if she couldn't save the two people she cared about the most.

The soft touch of a hand on her shoulder brought her back to reality. Pidge knew immediately who it was. She glanced up and met the earnest eyes of Shiro, her only link to her family.

"Pidge... I know losing your family has been difficult. But we're going to find them. I promise we won't stop looking until we find them. I... as the leader of the Kerberos mission I feel responsible for what happened. I wouldn't be able to live with myself if I didn't do everything I could to save them." Pidge allowed herself a slight half-smile. "Thank you, Shiro." He let himself wrap his arms around her, and pulled her in close. Pidge's tiny, shallow breaths whispered into his chest. "I'm always here to help, Katie." He grabbed her hand and gave it a compassionate squeeze. They held each other's embrace for a while, and then stepped back and gave each other an understanding smile.

Shiro's face lit up, and Pidge immediately suspected a bright idea. He opened his mouth to speak, couldn't find words, and then closed it again. After a moment, he simply said, "Follow me." Pidge gave an inquisitive look, but didn't question it. After a moment they ended up in the kitchen. "Now close your eyes." She did so without hesitation. When she was told she could open them again, she discovered that a tub of ice cream had somehow materialized in Shiro's hands and her eyes widened. Shiro gave a quick chuckle as Pidge reached for the container, only to have Shiro move it just slightly out of her grasp. Pidge gave him a pouty look.

"Now, I wouldn't get ice cream and not share with you. Just be patient." Shiro laughed. Pidge tapped her fingers impatiently on the counter and held her head in her hands. Shiro grabbed two spoons, one for each of them, and Pidge eagerly dug in. "Do I even get a thank you?" he said, while raising an eyebrow.

"Thank you very much" she replied, in between spoonful's of ice cream. Shiro smiled, glad that he had been able to help her feel better, and then he took a few bites as well. Pidge was beaming with joy.

Shiro was proud to have guessed that if technology wasn't the way to Pidge's heart, then sugar was.
