Prologue: Emily

Everything was a blur and mean, stressful blur. I don't remember much. I remembered that it hurt: jumping over the fences, running for my life and most of all hurting myself. I don't remember why, why did I do all of this?

I tried to remember while I was eating Cheerios at the counter. I heard them in the distance. It was calling my name. It grew louder and louder. My heart started to race as I whipped my sweaty palms on my American Eagle jeans. I knew this was going to happen; it was just a matter of time.

Suddenly there was a loud booming knock at the door. My parents were baffled and stood in the kitchen like statues. The booming knocking shook the whole house.
