Sick. Oh gods above he felt sick. Asura heaved, trying desperately to undo the terrible thing he had done. It was wrong so wrong…evil. He'd broken the supreme rule set by Death. He'd gone against everything he was supposed to stand for as a Guardian. He'd eaten a human soul.

The thought made him heave harder, but nothing but bile came up. Tears ran down his face, adding to the mess around him. What had he expected? That he could just undo it? Says 'oops' and have it not count? He could feel the soul inside him, quivering in fear and confusion in it's new surroundings. He could feel the power coming from it, and it terrified him. He was so scared because somewhere, in some sick hidden part of himself, he liked it.

He'd wanted this hadn't he? The power that came from souls…he had known he could make himself stronger by consuming them, but he hadn't known the cost. Not truly. He was throwing away his humanity to attain the power of a monster.

He heard footsteps behind him. It would be her, Vajra, coming back from finishing off the last of them. "Asura, have you finished sending the souls along? Asura? Are you alright?"

The Weapon woman ran to his side, concerned and confused about what could have happened to her partner in the brief time she was gone. She was sure they had taken out all of the bandits in this area.

'Can't tell can't tell, can't let her know!' Asura thought in panic what would happen to him if she, if anyone, was to find out what he had done. "We, we missed one it seems. He got a good hit in on me when I was distracted." He looked up, doing his best to smile through the pain and guilt. "I guess I'm just helpless without you Vajra."

She smiled in relief, her dark skin re-gaining its color. He really could be so absentminded sometimes. "You have to remember to be more careful." Her face softened as she placed an arm on his shoulder. "I just don't know what I'd do if I lost you."

Asura breathed in relief. Good. She believed him. But then, why would she ever doubt him? He had never lied to her before, not about anything. Another twinge of guilt hit him as he stood. No. This was not worth it. That would be the only time. No one could fault him for slipping just once, could they? Of course not. It was all over now anyway. Just a silly experiment really nothing to worry about.

Vajra helped him to his feet and leaned over, placing a quick kiss on his cheek. "Good. That's the last of them then. Let's go report back to Death. I don't want him to worry."

He smiled, putting his arm around her. No, of course it wasn't worth it. He would never throw this away for such a stupid reason. He was a Guardian. He would never become a monster.
