The day she died

My Mother, her team and I were on standby, waiting to see if anything would happen and if we were called in to help with healing people in the battle. All of us were in a tent out of sight ready and waiting.

Suddenly, Jackie the leader of our team, had a message on her communicator saying that there was an emergency. Many children had been killed or seriously injured and needed immediate medical care.

We left the tent quickly and rushed over to the scene. I could see that lots of fire bombs had been dropped in front of President Snows mansion where there was a huge number of children forming a barrier in front of the building effectively blocking off all entrance to the building.

I started trying to talk to a young girl who looked around six or seven who had blood pouring out of her arm. She was crying furiously as I tried to sooth her so I could get a closer look at her arm.

Then the rest of the fire bombs went off.

I felt intense pain as the fire spread all over my body. It was like nothing I had ever felt before. I was dying and fast.

I saw Katniss hanging onto a post as I took my last breaths.

I knew my cannon would sound before I was fourteen.

I can hear Katniss singing again now

I remember tears streaming down your face
When I said, I'll never let you go
When all those shadows almost killed your light
I remember you said, Don't leave me here alone
But all that's dead and gone and passed tonight

Just close your eyes
The sun is going down
You'll be alright
No one can hurt you now
Come morning light
You and I'll be safe and sound

Don't you dare look out your window darling
Everything's on fire
The war outside our door keeps raging on
Hold onto this lullaby
Even when the music's gone

Just close your eyes
The sun is going down
You'll be alright
No one can hurt you now
Come morning light
You and I'll be safe and sound

Just close your eyes
You'll be alright
Come morning light,
You and I'll be safe and sound...
