Warning: Slight yuri, sappy romance novel excerpt.

Disclaimer: I never have and never will own Sailor Moon or Michiru Kaioh and Haruka Tenoh. Property of Naoko Takeuchi.

The sun beat down mercilessly on the park today. Only a brave few dared to venture out from the shade . Michiru looked up at the tree she was sitting beneath, fond of the dappled shadows it cast across the pages of her book. It was the hottest day of the year today (according to the weatherman), and Haruka, who was supposed to be sitting with her, had joined an impromptu game of soccer on the field not too far away. She could see the blonde's tall form on the field a little ways away. Michiru straightened her sun hat and fell back into the lines of text in front of her.

"David, no, wait for me!" Young Elise called after her lover, but it was too late. He had already stepped into the taxi and was quickly being driven away before her. "But... I love you...come back..." she whispered to no one but herself. All she could do was stand in the middle of the rainy city street and let her tears fall softly--

"Still reading that depressing book, eh?" Haruka sat down suddenly next to Michiru, making her jump and consequently lose her place in the novel. Haruka chuckled quietly at her friend's surprise. "I beat 'em all. Fools don't know the first thing about soccer: don't face off against Haruka Tenoh and expect to win!"

Michiru gave a half-smile at Haruka's gloating. "I'm sure you beat them all, babe," she said distractedly, still trying to recover her place in her 'sappy, sad, romance book' (as begrudgingly described by Haruka herself).

"Heyyy. Aren't you happy I won? Doesn't seem like it," The blonde pouted, looking at the teal-haired Michiru with her wide brown eyes. Michiru, of course, couldn't remain distant when she used her famous pouty-face.

"Of course I am," she said, putting aside her book and wrapping her arms around Haruka's neck. She pulled herself close to the blonde's ear and whispered in a teasing tone, "Win another game, and I'll give you a nice first-place prize." When she pulled away with a smirk, Haruka's cheeks were slightly pink, and the teal-haired girl knew it wasn't from the temperature.

She still wore her pleased smirk as she picked up her book and Haruka hurriedly dashed off. She could now hear the blonde's loud raucous shout of "OKAY GUYS, WHO'S READY TO BE OWNED AGAIN?!" in the field.

Author's Note: YAY MY FIRST FANFICTION. -ahem-. I may actually make a story out of the book Michiru was reading...or maybe not. Reviews are mucho appreciated!

-Edit: Thanks for the reviews! This is my last edit of this one, I got a little too excited and posted it too quickly last time without proofreading it thoroughly...mistake!
