Slytherin.

The most misunderstood house of the four. Even more-so than Hufflepuff, and I must say that is an achievement. No offense, Puffs.

For one thing, the majority of us are obsessed with blood purity. I, for one, am a half-blood, so I get things like 'filthy half breed' all the time. People look down on me, because instead of 'mating' with another wizard, my mother married a muggle. They seem to resent half-bloods even more-so than the muggle-born. I do not approve of the whole pureblood obsession.

We're also cunning. People associate cunningness with liars. Like the wolf in Red Riding Hood, and the fox from the Ginger Bread Man. But they were different. They were inherently bad, while Slytherin simply have the trait, and whether they are bad or not is irrelevant.

We're also ambitious. Since when was that a bad thing? Oh, right, Voldemort. But he wanted to take over the world. Not all of us want to start a rebellion and go on a killing spree, now do we? The kids from Gryffindor also tend to be ambitious, and you don't see people hating on them now do you? It's because of Voldemort. Ambition, in small, healthy doses, is a very good thing! We know what we want to do, and will do what we can to achieve it.

Voldemort. That's my next subject. He was in Slytherin, as well as nearly all the Death Eaters. So of course the other houses associate us with them. That is anything but the truth. Slytherin simply has been unfortunate enough to get the bad people, so to speak.

Us Slytherins, we're not perfect, but we do have good qualities, that the other houses seem to conveniently overlook. For one, the powerful Prince of Enchanters, Merlin, was sorted into our house, and was possibly taught by Salazar Slytherin himself. The other houses tend to fail to recognize this fact, and question the validity of our claims when we tell them so.

We have a high sense of self-preservation; most of us think things through and weigh out all possible outcomes. We may not be noble, like the oh so perfect Gryffindor house, but we tend to think things through and select the best option. We're not stupid. Of course, I do not speak for the entire Slytherin house; I am merely defending its reputation.

I'll admit that I, too, was one of the ignorant students who despised Slytherin, until I was sorted into it and really learned its back story, and got to know the people in it.

We're anything but perfect, but you can hardly say the other houses are, either.

I'm Alice Collins.

Here's my story; all my adventures, all my experiences, all my romance, all my drama, (and believe me, there was lots.) documented right here on paper.

Enjoy the ride.
