The Saddest goodbye
Sora's POV
It was my birthday and I had invited all the digidestined for my birthday party. I hadn't been in contact with anyone from the old days but Tai and Mimi. Tai and I have been dating for 2 years and Mimi and I have been best friends since forever. Tai was due to arrive at my house at any mnute
As I pulled up in front of my house, I saw a blond haired teenager staring up at my house. I did not recognize him but still, something about him was so familiar to me. I approached the young man and asked him, "Excuse me…are you looking for someone?"
He turned his head towards me and said, "Sora? Is that you?"
"Matt?" I replied in disbelief as I recognized his voice.
It was Matt but his physical appearance had changed. He now had a sexy body with his beautiful blue eyes and …
Wait! Matt's a friend and I'm dating Tai! What am I thinking? I can't betray Tai like this!
"Sora? Are you ok?" inquired Matt, snapping me out of my thoughts.
I nodded my head.
Then he did something unexpected. Matt grabbed me and pulled me into a kiss. I didn't struggle in his embrace. Instead, I kissed him back. I knew that it was wrong, that I was betraying Tai but I didn't stop. I couldn't.
Then I heard a gasp. I pulled away to face the source of the sound. I turned and faced Tai. His eyes were brimming with tears. I opened my mouth to explain but no sound came out.
Tai said one word as tears rolled down his face, "Why?"
And he ran. He ran away from me and Matt.
Matt and I chased after him, trying not to lose sight of him.
Eventually he ran into an elevator in a building. He hurriedly closed the door before we could reach him so we had no choice but to take the stairs. The lift had stopped at the top floor and when we had gotten there Tai was gone and the roof access door was ajar.
We ran to the roof and found Tai standing on the edge of the roof.
"Tai! No! Don't do it!" I cried out
"Tai! Don't jump!" Matt exclaimed.
"Both of you betrayed me. My two best friends. Why?" He said as tears rolled down his cheeks.
He turned towards us and took a step back.
And fell down the building.
"No!" I cried knowing it was too late.
I peered over the edge of the building and saw a boy lying in a pool of blood lying face down sprawled on the street.
I burst into tears and collapsed onto Matt.
The next day was Tai's funeral, all the digidestined were there. His only friends and they had betrayed him.
Today, I'm married to Matt. It has been 5 years since the death of Tai but I never stop thinking about it, about how it was my fault and how I would have been able to prevent his death.
Everyday, I'm haunted by how Tai had given me the saddest goodbye…
