He could hear the distant thunder of a dozens of hooves pounded the ground. The sound of the War Horn filled him with dread. The war cries emitted from the Bokoblin's disgusting mouths sent shivers dacing along his young spine. The air around him grew hot, unnaturally so, making young Collin feel uncomfrotable. His senses heightened, and he cursed them for it.
Time slowed to a crawl, yet his mind worked in real time. He dropped the wooden sword Ronaldo had crafted for him. He turned his head down to Malo. His infant like features held the single emotion: Fear. Collin turned his sight towards the oncoming storm, and then he noticed Beth and Talo standing in the Road. he let a small groan out, and started for the building. Hoping anyone could help.
Then he heard Beth scream and realization washed over him. No one could help. By the time he got ot Renaldo, it would be over. With an intake of air, he tried to muster a mask. A mask that would hide his true emotions, and instead radiate courage and fearlessness. he turned his attention to Beth, who now could only stair at the hideous creatures that would surely kill her. From the cornor of his sight, he could see Talo run.
"No," Collin whispered, his voice demolished by the hooves deafening noise. He inhaled one last time, wishing it were Ordon's, as he was sure he would die. With adrenaline coursing through his young fragile body, he ran.
But so did the Bokoblin and their Boars.
Collin reached Beth first. Unsure how he managed such a feat, he only wished he would live to find out how, but he couldnt dwell on it. With all his strength he shoved Beth away. At first she moved only a couple of feet. He cursed and as he did, he realized his mother would have skinned his hide if she had heard him. He allowed himself a small grim smile. He then proceded to shove Beth again, this time she realised hat Collin had done.
A brief second, their eyes locked. Her eyes revealed the mixture of emotions bubbling within her; fear, amazement, and gratitude. When the connection broke, Collin turned to the Bokoblin and gritted his teath in hoped he looked as fierce as he pictured himself.
Without any warning blackness engulfed him, but before he lost all consciousness a different set of hooves joined the thunder. They were familiar and he remembered long days spent waiting for them.
He allowed himself another smile, death was knocking, but knowing he was close made a difference.
