Strawberries – A Jayo Fanfiction
Hey daniellestitt I heard you were sad so I wrote you a Jayo thing with happy feels.
Oddly, at the age of 24, John Tracy had never once been on a single date. Needless to say he was terrified, and could only think to go to his far more experienced brothers for help. Hell, Scott had once gotten as far as being engaged, and he was literally his wingman; not that his other brothers didn't mind pitching in with their advice.
"Never kiss on the first date."
"Wear a shirt that won't scare her off."
"Always be charming."
"Smile."
Having a date at home wasn't as difficult to imagine as John had thought it would be, the island itself was peaceful and secluded, even tranquil when Gordon and Alan weren't in the immediate vicinity. He dragged Virgil and his artistic abilities into the project, getting him to help wrap fairy lights around the bushes on the trail down to the waterfall.
The waterfall itself was relatively small, from the top to its pool it was only a few feet high, and wasn't exactly wide. It and its surroundings were so beautifully perfect one could hardly believe that they were natural, save for the pathway that went past it.
John had so many ideas, all leading to that silent spot, with only the calming waterfall for a melody, and with its bushes of flowers and trees filled with fruits, it was all perfect. Virgil let him borrow some candles to float in the pool of water, on the condition that he would find a way to get them out.
Everything was ready, blankets and mats, the lights, a basket of dinner which John was thankful that his grandmother had nothing to do with, but something was missing.
It came to him, thinking about all the things that described his date. Sweet, bitter when you didn't treat her like the queen she was, bright and better hot, best when with the things she loved.
Strawberries.
They were a small element to the evening but they mattered, they completed everything.
Covered in rich dark chocolate he put Kayo into a noun, and prayed it meant that it could make him charming, rather than unimpressive and clumsy.
John felt lucky at the end of the night, a sugary red taste left lingering on his lips, having broken his brothers' first rule, and smiled up at his beloved stars, the brightest of which took his hand, lying in the blankets next him.
Years later, dancing slowly in a marquee under their stars and surrounded by family, smiling in dress and suit respectively, eyed the dish filled with the fruit they both came to adore. Sitting down together in their own peaceful corner, both putting a hand on Kayo's stomach, and feeling a little kick from the fruits of their loving one another.
Yes, his sweet and sharp girl, was perfect.
This was meant to be a 100 words drabble and yet here we are with something longer than my business paper lmao
