"Steven! Oh Steven! Where are you?" Pearl walked through the house, hands up to her mouth to amplify her voice. The Room Door glowed with Amethyst's gem, and out she walked, munching on a bag of chips. Literally. Munching. On. The. Bag. God, why does she insist on eating garbage? Pearl thought as Amethyst walked towards her. If she's going to eat food, she might as well eat regular food...
"Whatcha yelling about, Pearl!?" She said in between chews.
"Well, I haven't seen Steven in a while, and I was just wondering where he was..."
Amethyst swallowed and looked up a bit. "Now that you mention it, I haven't seen the little squirt around in a while either. Normally he'd be coming to either of us asking to find Lapis or help with Peridot... Where could the little Stinker be...?" She started flipping the couch cushions and looking in the cracks and crannies. "Steeeeeveeeeeen! Come one mini-man, where you at?"
As soon as Amethyst started yelling, the warp pad glowed up. Pearl looked towards it, the hope in her eyes slightly cast down as she realized it was just Garnet coming back from another successful mission.
Garnet looked around the room. Pillows where everywhere, Amethyst was talking into the couch, Pearl was looking at her, and there was a distinct lack of a certain black haired individual. "Oh, hello Garnet. How was the mission?" Pearl walked up to her.
"It was alright. Nothing too difficult for me," Garnet smiled lightly, de-materializing her gauntlets and setting a hand on her shoulder.
"Yes, well, that's wonderful! I knew it would be easy for you," Pearl said. Garnet caught the manic undertone in her voice, her smile turning into a concerned frown.
"Pearl, is there something wrong?"
She gulped. "It's just... Well... I haven't seen Steven in a while... He's actually been gone all day... We were just looking for him and-" Garnet set a finger to her lips, effectively shushing her.
"Pearl, I understand that you are worried, but Steven is just fine. He's gotten older, smarter, and there is nothing to fear at the beach. Even if there was, he could handle it. He's got your training, remember?"
Pearl blushed and looked down, rubbing the back of her neck. "Right... Right. You're totally right Garnet! He'll be fine. I shouldn't worry! He'll probably walk right through that door any minute n-," Pearls ears suddenly perked up. "Garnet, do you hear something?"
"It's Connie," Amethyst said from the window. Pearl turned and ran up next to her, seeing the young girl run up to the house. "I wonder why she's running so fast..."
"She's got the sword," Pearl said, her tone hushed as Connie ran up the stairs. She burst through the door, a frenzied glint in her eyes as all three gems looked dead at her.
"Where is he!" She yelled, causing Pearl to frown.
"You mean Steven? We thought he might have been with you," Pearl said, slowly standing upright. Connie pushed her hair back out of her face.
"He was! But he was acting really weird. He's been doing that a lot lately, as a matter of fact. Ever since you guys came back from the mission in the Strawberry Fields..." She looked down, reminiscing on that point in time. "A-a-anyways, he was acting all weird and then he said that he would be right back. His voice was so strange, like he was about to do something bad..."
Pearl turned to Garnet, who was silent through the whole thing. "Garnet, do you see anything?" She shook her head.
"I cannot see any of the possible outcomes of where he might be. Whenever that happens, it means that the next action that he takes will be a major point in his life. We have to find him, before something happens!"
Amethyst nodded and punched her fist into her hand. "Let's go find him!"
"Before it's too late..." Pearl ran to the door. "Come on gems. And you too Connie," she nodded, and they all ran out the door, not noticing the lone piece of paper turned over on the table behind them...
