"Come on, Kairi. You can do it. Just take it nice and slow," her husband, Ichiro, said, trying to calm her. "How? I'm giving birth here!" she screamed. "I know it hurts but try to-"
"Hurts is one hell of an understatement! Try kills! Anyway, am I almost done here?"
"Yes, just one more push."
"Okay."
With all the remaning strength she had, Kairi gave one final push before hearing the sweet sound of her new child's crying. She collasped panting and relieved that finally, finally the extreme pain was over.
"Is...is it...a...girl like...we hoped?"
'You're the one who wants a girl. I don't care if it's a boy or girl. I'm just glad I have a child of my own.'
Ichiro picked up the new child.
"No, it's a boy."
"Get rid of it."
"What? NO! Why would you want to get rid of our first child?"
"Because it's not a girl!"
"Well, if you like it or not he's stay."
"It!"
"He's not an 'it'. He's our beautiful new baby. Get over it and help me name him."
He grabbed a nearby blanket and wrapped the baby up. Ichiro rubbed his nose on the newborn's soft face. "Who's my good boy," he cooed. The baby giggled at the tickling sensation.
"Will you get over here so we can name that brat."
"Don't listen to her buddy. Mommy's just a little crabby."
Ichiro walked over to Kairi and handed her the newborn. Kairi looked at her baby's face. He had a patch of jet black hair and a pair of eyes to match.
"His eyes...they're the same color as a snake's."
"So. That makes it hard not to get lost in them."
"I don't care," she shoved him into his father's arms," I'm not helping name a monster like that."
"Would you quit it! I'll name him."
'What to name him.'
"You said something about a snake, right," she nodded," Well, then. How about...Jakotsu. Yes! That's it! Jakotsu, it's perfect!"
"Jakotsu means snake bone, right?"
"Yes."
"Call him what you want because to me he's nothing."
Ichiro gave up on trying to get him wife to like their creation. She was too stubburn. Way too stubburn.
