He didn't know why he was here.
Out of all places, he ended up here.
He sat down beside the stone and placed the flowers on it.
"He's dead… Jen. He gave his life in some way for me, just as you did."
Jethro sat beside Jenny's tombstone just talking. He came here after Mike's funeral.
"I don't know why I'm… he was my last connection to the past."
He could feel the tears building, but he didn't want to show weakness crying to a stone.
"I miss you."
He finally said it.
"I wish you let me go with you even though you were already dying. If I could go back, I'd tell you all the words I saved."
The wind began to blow a little.
"I'd say I love you. I never stopped. You never broke my heart, you took it with you that day."
The tear went down his cheek and fell from his face.
"I still have our rings from an undercover op. Even after you left I saved them."
Another tear fell from his face.
"It's my fault we never worked. You'd say it was yours but it was mine. I never went after you."
Full stream coming down now.
"Mike was the last person to see you alive. He told me you cared about me…. and I wish I had the chance to tell you the same."
She walked toward him from behind a tree, just out of sight. She watched him cry and talk. A tear went down her face from listening to him.
"I never thought I'd see you again… but when I saw you in MTAC… I wanted to hold you so close."
He looked down at her tomb.
"I couldn't bring myself to look at you when you arrived in DC. If I had one more night…"
She came out from behind the trees when he looked away and tears came from him. She watched him, the strong, courageous man she knew, and she watched him cry.
He heard footsteps, but didn't turn to see who it was. He put his head down on her stone.
"She loved you Gibbs."
Another tear fell from his face and it made one fall from hers. She took his hand and held it. Jethro turned and looked her right in the eyes.
"I'll never let go of her… Ziva. Shannon was my first love, but Jenny was my other half."
Ziva gave a sad smile and nodded. She squeezed his hand.
"You're the mystery Paris man. Almost every night for four months, she woke up in tears and she would look for you. She truly loved you."
It was silent after that as the wind blew lightly and whistled softly. As it did, Jethro closed his eyes and for a moment he could have sworn he heard,
"I'll always love you Jethro."
He gave a slight smile and said,
"You were something special."
