Disclaimer: I do not own any of the characters or Doctor Who itself.
A/N: Thought of this one when I was listening to Snow Patrol – Crack The Shutters, fantastic song.
Jack, Martha, Donna, Sarah Jane and Mickey were all crowded around the screen in the console room, while the Doctor was fiddling around with various wires and such.
''Are you sure that you want to do this Doctor?'' Sarah Jane asked tentatively, ''I mean this could be really hard you know.''
''I just really want to know how they're doing, what they're doing.'' The Doctor replied.
''Okay, but only if you're sure.''
The Doctor nodded and went back to working on what he was doing. He had been doing a little research and found out that he could find out what Rose and the other version of him were doing right at that exact moment in the parallel world. He knew he would be able to speak to them but only watch from the sidelines. As soon as he found out that he could – he decided to call Jack and the others - he knew they all missed Rose nearly as much as he did and he didn't really want to be alone in case he did something that he would later regret. At last he finished fixing the wires, and was able to get a connection to the other world.
On screen a room came into view...
A huge four poster bed with beautiful silk blue and white bed covers (A/N: Picture on profile), Rose was obviously in a deep slumber but the other Doctor propped up on his elbow just staring at Rose, clearly thinking she was the most beautiful creature in the universe. He raised his spare hand and stroked Rose's hair. A couple of seconds later Rose opened her eyes and stared into the Doctor's.
''Come on,'' she said, ''it's time to get up now'' She flung back the covers and got up leaving the Doctor groaning saying that he didn't want to get up just yet. Rose grabbed the edge of the covers and pulled, exposing a pyjama clad Doctor who curled up instinctively to keep warm.
''Roooooooose!'' he moaned.
''Come on, quit ya complaining.'' She grinned, ''you know, I reckon it should be you who wears these pjs.'' She said gesturing to her own. She had a vest and shorts on, the vest was white with a thin line of black lace around the top and a little bow, and emblazoned on the front in red writing was 'Grumpy But Gorgeous'. (A/N: Picture also on profile)
The Doctor laughed and said, 'Are you being rude, Mrs. Smith?'
"Sort of, but remember I did say that you were gorgeous so that kind of overrides it."
"Okay, I'll let you off" he grinned. "But I don't think that I can ignore the fact that you have made me cold when I was very cosy just now." He got off the bed at the speed of light and raced towards Rose who squealed and ran out the door. She was chased by the Doctor until he caught her up and captured her in a deep kiss.
The real Doctor said, ''I don't want to watch any more.'' He cancelled the connection and all was silent in the console room.
Jack was the first to speak, ''She's obviously very happy, you should be too now that you know that.''
''I am Jack, I really am - it's just... hard, you know? Knowing that I can't ever have that with her.''
''I think everyone needs a cup of tea'' Donna said, her eyes were filled with tears for the Doctor, knowing that, that must of been heart wrenching. She went off into the kitchen to make the tea.
The Doctor took a minute to compose himself, and realised that he had definitely made the right decision to leave the other Doctor with Rose; they were clearly very happy together, living on their own and being married. He decided that there was no point in moping about and said to everyone, "I think we should all go on one quick adventure - who's with me?'' Everyone agreed and so the Doctor put in the co-ordinates and set off to a random planet with the best friends he could ever wish for.
