Nightfall

If asked for his reasons, he would say it was because Darkness was honestly stronger than Light.

Because even if Light could sometimes chase the shadows away, you couldn't really have Light without Darkness (brighter light, darker shadows and all that jazz). But Darkness didn't need Light to thrive. Darkness was the absence of Light, and was much stronger without it.

That's why, to get what he wanted, he would help his Friends throw the world into an eternal darkness. Because it would make them (and essentially, himself) stronger.

And he knew that eventually, the day would have to end.
