It's a dream. It has to be. Why else would Mei be standing at Nate's front door at three in the morning?
"...Mei?" asked the drowsy half asleep boy.
"I know it's late, but I kind of need a favor from you." Mei looked down at her feet as she rocked back and forth on her heels waiting to be invited inside.
"Oh, um... come in." Nate stepped out of the way and welcomed her into his home.
"Thank you." Mei gave him a smile and rubbed her cheek gently as she walked into his house and jumped up to sit on his kitchen counter.
Nate followed behind rubbing his eyes but wondered what was the purpose of this visit. "What is it that I can help you with?"
"I need to borrow Haxorus for a few hours."
"Haxorus? Why would you need him?" Nate was curious as to why she needed his strongest Pokémon, other than the fact that it was his strongest Pokémon.
"Iris is having a tournament at sunrise and its exclusive to Dragon types and you're the only one I know that has one that I can trust to listen." Mei gave him a Lillipup eyed look hoping to get him to agree by using her cute charms.
Nate's cheeks turned a rosy red as his eyes were locked on hers. He felt like she had accidentally found his crush of her out and looked away quickly. "Just for a few hours, okay? I need him back by the afternoon."
"I'll have him back in no time! You know how I can be during battles." She gave him a grin knowing she would have his Pokémon soon.
"Oh, alright. Let me go get him from upstairs." And with that, Nate had left the kitchen to get Haxorus' PokeBall.
Meanwhile Mei looked at her reflection on the side of the microwave and touched her cheeks. "Flawless~"
A few seconds later Nate reappeared and held the PokeBall out in his hand for her to take. "If you can, ask her if she could teach him Draco Meteor."
Gently taking the ball in her hand, she eyed it with sparkling eyes. "What do you think one of the prizes in the tournament is? That's third place. Second is 25,000 PokeDollars plus the move taught to your Pokémon, and First Place is both plus a free trip to Kalos with all expenses paid for two."
She looked at his and shyly smiled. "Maybe you could come with me on the trip."
"R-really?" Yeah, he was probably dreaming. This couldn't be real life.
"Yeah, really." Mei leaned in to kiss his cheek but Nate felt as if she was going to kiss him on the lips so his eyes closed and his lips pursed waiting.
Mei's face twitched slightly and turned red as she saw what was going on. Thinking quickly, she moved past him and walked to the door in a half sprint. "I-I gotta go! I'll bring him back soon! Thank you, bye!
And with that, she was out the door and Nate was left in the kitchen. "Almost had it..."
Mei quickly ran away from the house and hid behind a building.
"That was too close. Can you believe that almost happened, Ditty?"
Mei's face twitched and slid off onto her shoulder, revealing itself to be a Ditto and for her to be none other than Blue.
"I'm sorry you almost had to kiss a boy for me, but we got what we came for."
Blue's grin was as wide as it could be as she held the glistening PokeBall in her hands under the moonlight.
"Let's go home."
