Always a Family

Mud sloshing in our shoes
Yielding ground beneath our feet
The morning sun peeks o'er the school
We strive to ever follow the beat

We're here from dawn to dusk and more
Marching, playing and working hard
The drill, the music, messy score
But they'll never understand.

We're pushed around and driven out
We flee to our dear room
There's spit on the floor more than 40 year old.
Does anyone have a broom?

They tell us it's a waste of time.
They tell us, stay in class!
But they realize not, our ears are off
Our hearts live in the grass

The stadium's our livelihood
It's all we need to thrive
And when we reach that giant chord
We're never more alive.

Our outfits smell and tubas blat
Reeds will screech and trumpets squeal
The guard line sometimes knocks us flat
But for us, nothing is more real.

It doesn't matter what they think, because we have each other.
A family group of 92
The band nerds, sisters, brothers.

And when we're gone and moved away,
We'll still look back with glee
For no matter what is going on,
Band nerds we'll always be.
