A/N: My first Avatar fic, enjoy.
Aang couldn't sleep, not with what he was hiding from Katara and Sokka. Something that could potentially end their friendship with the Avatar. 'I need to give myself some peace' Aang thought, and so he got up off of Appa's tail, and made the two step journey over to Katara.
"Katara, are you awake?" The girl in question stirred lightly, "Yeah, Aang, I am. What's up?" This was Aangs opportunity for peace.
"I had a question." said Aang, his voice weak. At this statement, Katara sat up, her full attention now on the young Avatar. "What is it Aang? If I can answer it, I'd be happy to." Aang inwardly winced, knowing he couldn't tell her the truth, so he would have to settle for this.
"Do you think it's okay to lie or hide things from someone if it's to protect them?" Katara's face adorned a puzzled expression, this wasn't what she thought Aang would ask at all. However, she did have an answer.
"Well, that's a tricky question, but ultimately I think if you lie to someone to protect them, then you're doing a good thing. Is something on your mind, Aang?"
Aang sighed lowly to himself, "No, Katara. There's nothing wrong, thank you for your answer." said Aang, quickly pulling Katara in an embrace which she returned just as quickly.
" I should be getting some sleep now, thank you again Katara, I really appreciate it."
"You're welcome Aang, good night." Katara was worried, but she decided that Aang was just stressed from his duties of being the Avatar.
As Aang fell back onto Appa's tail he had a single thought 'What they don't know won't hurt them.'
A/N: Thank you for reading, I hope you enjoyed, you are supposed to decide for yourself what you think Aang is hiding from Katara and Sokka, however I will say it deals with Katara more than Sokka.
