Dimming Lights
The twilight of his life
Came before the high sun
He said his reluctant farewells
And quietly turned out the lights
Nothing could be left undone
No words could be left unspoken.
Not a doubt could linger
He forgave and was forgiven
Darkness fell silently
In that silky black night
But there was one light
Which wouldn't diminish
There was no perfect darkness
There was no end to his sentence
When the clock ticked on
He would tick with it
There were things
He couldn't do
There were words
He couldn't say
For him, life would end
But Death couldn't call for him
Until the unforgiving light
Vanished into the night
The twilight of his life
Came before the high sun
He said his reluctant farewells
And quietly turned out the lights
Nothing could be left undone
No words could be left unspoken.
Not a doubt could linger
He forgave and was forgiven
Darkness fell silently
In that silky black night
But there was one light
Which wouldn't diminish
There was no perfect darkness
There was no end to his sentence
When the clock ticked on
He would tick with it
There were things
He couldn't do
There were words
He couldn't say
For him, life would end
But Death couldn't call for him
Until the unforgiving light
Vanished into the night
