A.N: I was opening a can of tuna for my cat [yeah…] and I started thinking about the yellow emoticons and I really got into this. Then I thought I might post it in Facebook -ahem- and I thought, nah. So I thought I might mend it into a story :D A very short story...
DISCLAIMER: I DO NOT OWN DEATH NOTE.
P.S: Major props to Strawberry-Blond Kunoichi for one of her lines that she wrote. This is basically the quote that made me think of all this. Again- MAJOR PROPS! I'm really sorry if me using it made you mad!

Matt- 6 Mello- 7

Mello was sitting on the park bench munching on a chocolate bar. He was waiting for Matt to come back with ice cream. It was 104 degrees out. Mello had just finished his chocolate bar when Matt came back with two cones- one chocolate and the other… er… what flavor is yellow?
"Matt," he said, taking the chocolate one, "what is that?" Matt licked the ice cream before answering.
"Its mango," he grinned. The two stayed silent for a while, watching the people and cars pass by and eating their frozen treats.
"Hey Mels," Matt asked.
"Hmm?"
"You know what I realized?" Mello ate the last of his cone.
"What?" He snapped.
"You know those yellow happy emotes?"
"Yeah…" Mello wasn't too sure where this was going. When it came to Matt, it could be anything.
"Well, I figure, the sun is yellow and those emotes are happy. It's like they're the sun that makes the rain go away. You get what I mean?"
"No Matt, not even with my intelligence do I understand what you're saying."
"Ok. Well the sun makes the rain go away. And I figure that because those happy faces are yellow and smiley, they represent the sun. And smiles make the sadness go away. Do you get it now?" He smiled.
"For Christ's sakes Matt, if I just say yes, will you stop?"
"You're quite irritable today, aren't you?"
"What made you think that, you idiot dog: the emanating heat or the fact that I'm practically drenched in sweat?" Mello knew his words had hurt the redhead. He sighed. "I'm sorry Matt."
"It's ok…" Matt looked like he was on the verge of tears.
"Matt…" Mello felt the guilt grow. Matt smiled at him.
"Matt."
"I'm ok, see?" His smile grew.
"No Matt. 'Just because you're smiling doesn't mean you're happy… because it takes one smile to cover up a million tears'." Matt seemed to genuinely smile this time. This put Mello at ease.
"Thanks, Mell-," he was cut off by pure shock when Mello leaned over to hug him. "Thank you, Mello."

Wow… this took me about 40 minutes to write… I was watching Full-Court Miracle.
But, tell me what you think! How was my shot at being a philosopher xD Yeah… I sort of forgot what I thought earlier… So I had to make up some of it…
Happy reading!
