Disclaimer- I do not own Harry Potter.
Ginny excessively yawned, having just turned off her alarm, accidentally waking her husband of 11 years, Harry Potter.
"Gods, Gin, do you have to yawn so loudly?"
"Mhm…" Ginny mumbled (this denotes yes in my world), then flung the covers off their cosy double bed, generously given to them on their wedding day by Hermione Granger, whom they had not seen for 15 years today, since the Potters' wedding anniversary.
As Harry went to put on his glasses, Ginny glanced at the radio clock on the wall and swore. They were an hour behind today's schedule.
"Shit. Harry, I forgot. The clocks went back today, and we're now an hour late for the 15-year anniversary event of the defeat of Voldemort!" She informed Harry alarmedly.
"No worries love," murmured Harry, "After all, we're always late, aren't we?" He joked with a smile as he got out of bed and ambled towards the dresser, and moved to affectionately kiss his wife. However, he was swatted away by Ginny, who was already dressed now.
"Harry, I love you, but you have no respect for time, and this is important, well, if you weren't still half-asleep. Hurry, will you? I'll go make coffee and breakfast." Ginny explained, already halfway down the stairs as she finished talking.
Harry grimaced. It was not yet 10 in the morning and his day was already a mess, yet he hurriedly dressed in a pale blue checkered shirt, paired with worn suede trousers he'd owned since he was 16, and made his way into the kitchen, where he was met with a hot cup of coffee, a bowl of cereal and most importantly, his morning kiss from Ginny. God, he was grateful for his wife.
The couple, after a brief breakfast and a walk to the station, were now on the London Underground, heading towards King's Cross where they would board the Hogwarts Express, which was being used as transport to Hogwarts for the event.
Blissfully on time (although only just, as it was 09:58), they then got onto the train, headed to the usual carriage, which had been specially reserved for the Golden Trio and their significant others.
Ginny breathed in the musty air of the Hogwarts Express, now desperately missing her old school. She and Harry then made their way to the compartment.
As they arrived, they were greeted by Ron, who came out as bisexual a few years after Ginny's graduation and was now sitting with his husband of 4 years, Seamus Finnegan.
"Hi, you two! Come, we haven't talked for ages!" Ron said, beaming as he offered the seats next to him, which Harry and Ginny Potter-Weasley gratefully accepted, tired from the underground.
"That's not quite true Ron, we saw you at dinner last week. Which, Seamus, was delicious." Ginny said, pleased as the Irishman's instant grin, as he was often shy about his cooking.
The group chatted happily for 15 minutes, while the train set off, as although they saw each other frequently, there was always so much to catch up on. They were quite happy until Ginny broke out of her train of thought and abruptly realised Hermione was not present.
"Guys, where's Hermione?" Ginny asked the friends.
"Yeah - where is she? She's not the late type." Ron said, beginning to feel worried as although he was happily married, he had also not seen Hermione for 15 years and he really missed her.
As if on cue, Hermione Granger, their longtime best friend and ally, appeared in the doorway to the carriage.
"Um, hi! Sorry, I'm a little late, I had to stop by another carriage. Can I sit down here?" She said, pointing towards the row of seats. Harry gestured that she could and she then entered the compartment, only to be ambushed by a multitude of questions from her friends.
"So, Hermione. Where have you been for the past 15 years?" Ron asked bluntly.
"Oh, I moved to Australia for a couple of years to recover my parents' memories, and then have been head of magical cooperation at the French ministry ever since. I'll be moving back to live here from now on though. I might take some more NEWTs, then look at other career options as I've improved hugely on potions recently. Anyway, that's more than enough about me. How are you, Ron? I'm so sorry I wasn't able to make your wedding, but I'm guessing it was wonderful." Hermione explained briefly, deflecting the attention of herself as ever.
"I'm great, thanks for asking. Er, this is a bit awkward, but I was wondering if you'd moved on - romantically?" Ron responded. The pair had shortly broken up after a few weeks of their relationship, and their friendship had never been the same since. This made Ron worried he might be a partial reason she left, and he hoped that Hermione, as he had, had moved on.
"Yeah, don't worry." She answered bashfully and her friends then knew to move on from this.
But then Draco Malfoy's head graced the compartment entrance.
Thanks for reading! Hopefully this is better than my last fic :) and REVIEW please, it makes my day!
