For the longest time, the land of Despairia's name didn't fit its description. It was a beautiful land, sustained by the hope and peace of its inhabitants. Sure, there was occasionally war between territories and there could be crime, but nothing that quite fit the name of a world that shared a name with a term like despair.

Until one-hundred years ago.

A monstrous beast with unimaginable power rose to take over the world. A black and white striped, vaguely cute being known as Monokuma. But it wasn't long after that, the citizens of Despairia learned to not judge a book by its cover. The small bear and its army of monsters attacked and took over the world, creating an incident known as The Most Despairing War of All Time. Civilization lost, and many were killed by the creature's power. Over time, the creature began to be known as Demon Lord Monokuma.

That isn't to say that civilization was powerless. In the world of Despairia, each individual was born into an ability called a Class. Knights, magicians, archers, summoners, healers... They were all created through this Class System. Each one of them were at different power levels from other people in their same class, but the now fallen hierarchy of Despairia noticed that one person, usually a teenager of each Class, had power that if controlled could turn the tides on the Demon Lord Monokuma. These beings were called the Ultimate Classes.

And so, the monarchy of the world wished to bring them together and to train them in a way that they could fight back against Demon Lord Monokuma. As such, the United Hope Academy was created, hidden away from the world as a sanctuary to train the future heroes.

Little did they know, as soon as the first day of class would begin, a small bear would make his visit to United Hope Academy.

"Upupupu!" it chortled, just thinking about that moment, "I'd love to them try."

Hey there! I'm Miles of Space, but you can call me Miles. This is one of those SYOC Dangan Ronpa fics (I know, I know,) but hopefully with a twist! In this canon (in which the other Danganronpa's probably didn't happen), it takes place in a fantasy world with fantasy characters taking place in a completely fantasy/JRPG-inspired killing game. This fic is inspired by the works of Game of Thrones, Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild, Konosuba, Lord of the Rings, Rokka no Yuusha, and Harry Potter, amongst other things. So this should be pretty different, for certain, I hope.

Before I say click on my profile and fill out the application, there's a few rules I'd like to lay out first:

1. This is not first come, first serve. If I like the character? I'll most likely accept it, but I'm also looking for the best characters possible!

2. You may send in as many characters as you like. Feel free.

3. No repeats from other SYOCs. Let it be completely original.

4. I will be introducing a character as the ahoge protag, who will be revealed to you in the next update hopefully alongside the full castlist, but I do not want them to be the only focus. As such, this fic will be much more of an ensemble piece compared to the games where everyone will play some big role in some way if possible.

5. Be mega creative. Go all out with your characters! Wild? Wacky? Subdued? Villainous? Heroic? All of them are wanted!

6. Please send all of your characters through PM in the following format, "DR: Game of Unknowns - (YOUR OC NAME HERE.)"

There isn't a specific deadline for this fic for now, but I have a ton of ideas for this and I really want to give this a spin. Of course, the application (and some ideas for Ultimate Classes) are on my profile.
