My darling girl

Tom woke up in the middle of the night thinking about Sybil, the love of his life. The woman that got ripped away from him only days ago. She was so young. So beautiful and intelligent. The perfect woman. He decided to go up to see his daughter. He tiptoed to her room so he was sure not to wake anyone. He slowly pushed the door open and looked at her. She looked so peaceful. So innocent. "Ohh, Sybbie, my darling girl," he whispered. "You look so much like your mother".

He walked into the room and sat in a chair next to Sybbie's bed. When he looked at her he became so happy. She was his child and he should watch her grow and spend many happy years with her. He couldn't resist picking her up even though it probably would wake her up. He sat with her in his arms for hours just thinking about her and the years to come. It would be hard without Sybil he knew it, but he would do his best to raise her properly.

"Tom?"

He opened his eyes slowly and looked up at the person that had entered the little room. It was Mary. "I woke in the night and then I came to see her," he explained. Not because he had to, but because he did not have much else to say. "And then I must have fallen asleep"

"Shall I take her?" Mary asked. Tom nodded and handed the little girl to her. "I will go down and get some breakfast" He said as he walked out of the room.
