Virgil panted with the strain as he dragged Richie back on to the couch, the boy hit and kick out at him trying desperately to get away, and again vigil had to face that this was real.

Pinning Richie under him he grab his friends wrists and shocked Richie in to a quivering pile of skin, bone, grease, drift and... and other stuff.

Using his sweater sleeve he gently wiped the dirt off Richie's face.

This was not his friend.

Not this person.

Not this... junkie.

Unable to look at this shadow anymore but unable to leave it either Virgil collapsed on to it, hiding his face in Richies neck.
