Chapter 1:

Do you believe in magic, in supernatural things? Do you believe in vampires, werewolves, witches and wizards? No, right? I wouldn't blame you. Who would, really? That's what I told Carlisle when he suggested some good old writing therapy would help me pass the time. Now, I don't have any trauma or emotional stuff that needs writing down so I can get past it. I can usually get over things without any other help than my own. But I was bored and the tiny town we were currently living in was even more boring so… challenge accepted, I suppose.

All right, here's a very, incredibly short and perhaps not completely accurate summary of my life up until now. My name is Marie Antoinette Emmarette and I was born in 1894 BC on Ancient Egypt. It was a beautifully magical place. I still call it home, some times. Now, I bet you read the year, looked at a calendar and called my bluff. For reasons I really don't want to explain right now, I was forced into immortality at the pretty age of seventeen. Don't worry, I'm not a vampire, so I won't be drinking you dry anytime soon. I'm actually a really powerful witch, even if I don't practice magic as often as I used to, and my specialty is water and fire plus the occasional, scarily accurate vision. I have long wavy black hair—it almost reaches my hips—my eyes are a piercing ice blue and my skin is really white; nothing out of the ordinary. It's a bit boring, actually. Although, I do love my hair. After going through a lot, in 1721 I stayed definitely on the Underworld but in 1920 I realized there was nothing left for me there, my sister hated me and made sure I knew that all the time. So I sent a letter to Dr. Carlisle Cullen, asking him if it'd be a bother for me to go live with him. He, of course, said the idea was splendid and I went to live with him and his coven. Carlisle is a vampire and he considers his coven family. We met around 1697 and, at that time, I couldn't stand vampires. To be honest, there are very few vampires I stand to this day, but he's proven to me that he and his family are different and that not all vampires are evil.

The Cullens are amazing… if a little too unique. When I went to live with them, they were Carlisle, Esme, Carlisle's wife, and Edward their 'son'. With time, Rosalie, Emmet, Jasper and Alice came to live with us, too. Their dynamic was completely twisted to me at first, but now, after so long, they've become like family to me. I can honestly say I owe them so much. I would not be who I am today if it weren't for them.

"Mia, we're all ready to go!" Alice called from downstairs.

I put the pen down and sighed, looking at my handwriting on the notebook. That sounded really bad, I wasn't the best writer in the world. But, Carlisle was right, it did work. I felt a bit better and less bored. Of course, I doubted the notebook would ever get filled, all we ever did was go to school, go back home and do stuff together. I had never in my life kept a journal. In fact, I was sure I would never ever write something else on this notebook. I shrugged, closed the notebook and put it inside my bag. As I was about to close the door to what was now my old bedroom, I took a look around, wondering if life in our new home, which was once again a rainy small town, would be as boring as life in Fort Smith, Canada had been.

A/N: you guys have no idea how many times I have rewritten this, erased it and written it again. There's just no way for this first chapter to be good. I mean, really good. So, this is the third time I've revised it and I suppose you will notice a few changes if you've read it, are reading it more than once. Also, considering the story is pretty much on Eclipse territory by now and we're halfway there, I'm revising the whole story because the other day I was reading it for inspiration and because I'm sick and can't do much but read and write very little before my head hurts more than it already does, and I was horrified with how badly written the first chapters are. So, wow, I can't believe how you guys could get past the first chapters. Anyway, enjoy, review, favourite, tell your friends about it, everything is appreciated. Also, if you guys want follow me on tumblr. I recently changed my url to lydiastilnskii. Have a good day, lovelies.
