Landon stood on the bank of the pond and recalled the countless other times that he had stood there. It had always been his place to think. His place to make himself stop and collect his thoughts. He always made sure that he came to the pond at least once everytime he came back to visit. It was his place to be alone and to be with her again. Just them. Well at least in his thoughts. This was his last stop of the weekend. His last stop before heading back.
It had been four years. Four years excatly three days ago. Since she had left him and gone up to heaven and became the angel he had always known she was.
It may have been four years ago but Landon could still rememeber every minute of those months that Jamie and he spent, just like they all happened yesterday. He felt the cool spring brezze blow on his skin and through his hair and he knew that she was there with him. "Jamie." He said softly a sad smile crossing his face. If he closed his eyes he could still see her. The day she looked most beautiful, Their wedding day. He knew if for some reason he ever forgot everything else , that moment of her walking towards him would be with him forever. But He didn't plan on ever forgetting anything.
As he thought back over the months that he spenc with Jamie a converstation that he and Eric had played in his head. Eric's word still hit home today. "Man she has changed you and you don't even realize it." If he hadn't realized it back then. He sure did now. He was where he was in life because of Jamie.
He closed his eyes tighter as he felt the tears coming again. They didnt come as often as they use to but everytime he was here it never failed, "Oh baby," He whispered his voice choking up. I miss you. I miss so much. There wasn't a moment of a day, not a second that Jamie wasn't on his mind. She was without a doubt the best thing that had ever come into his life. It would last forever, but it was over to soon.
He hand made friends at school and some of them understood, but others just didn't. And he knew that not everyone would get it. The first year almost everyone understood, They understood when he didn't want to go out with them or be set up on a date. And they understood when he refused to take off his wedding ring. He had sworn never to take it off and to love Jamie forever and he was going to do just that. But has the years went on his friends started to worry more and more about him . One of his friends kept telling him "Landon you are 22 years old. You need to live your life." And maybe they were right, but he just wasn't ready. He didn't see a reason to move on.
Jamie had made him promise to be happy. And he did and he would be. He was, He was happy with his memories of her. No one could ever be here. No one could ever be Jamie. His Jamie.
The End
