What about now? What about today?
Without thinking, he leaned in and pulled her closer for a kiss. She did not pull away, to his great surprise. Instead, he felt one of her hands close around his neck and the other hold him around his waist. She started kissing him back. He did the same. Wrapping his arms around her, he pulled him closer so that he could feel her chest rise and fall. After a few minutes of a very heated makeout, they pulled apart and gasped for air. Thats when the severity of what had just happened between them dawned on him. They had kissed. No, snogged and made out with each other. And he had been the one to initiate it. What was up with him? Why the hell would he want to kiss her? He hated her, didn't he? And she hated him back. So why had she gone along with the kissing. Hell had definitely frozen over, otherwise this would never have happened. Did She actually like him?
He looked up at her to find her staring at him, her face had on an expression filed with confusion and fear. Yeah, he really didn't have to have worried about her liking him. That could never happen, nope. He looked down at his shoes, for the first time in his livelong life, he couldn't think of anything to say. A minute later, he heard the her turn very, very slowly, as if still in a daze, and walk away.
What if you're making me, all that I was meant to be?
He had thought about the kiss late into the night, wondering if he had liked it or not. All he found was that he didn't yet know himself. But he had the strange wish that it happened again. After a while, though, he convinced himself that that was only because it had been with the girl he loathed and he was just curious. He had also decided that when morning came, he would keep an eye on the Gryffindor table while breakfast, and then see if she had similar plans. All would be decided at breakfast. And he firmly believed that of course, she will have put the kiss from her head and would not have any plan like his, and even if she did, it would be only to glare at him. He was thinking this when sleep took control of him and he gave in to the night.
The next morning at breakfast, everything changed for him.
He way he thought of some things, some people, all his opinions began to change. He didn't realise the change at first, but then there were times where he'd find himself thinking in a way he wasn't used to, saying things he never would have said before and thats when he knew. He knew that the very inevitable danger that he had been trying to avoid for months, had finally caught up to him. He had fallen for her. He couldn't decide when, exactly, but he supposed it had all started when he had kissed her. He remembered how he had hoped the following morning would go okay. But of course, unlike he expected, she was, indeed staring at him when he had looked up to sneak a glance at the Gryffindor table. Well, that was that. Then they began sneaking furtive glances at each other during classes, from behind the bookshelves in the library, at meals, sometimes, ever so faintly, she would smile at him, and he'd smile back. Slowly, unknowingly, they fell in love, and lost themselves completely to one another. She made him see what he had been missing in life, helped him get over their differences. He made her see how sometimes, letting loose and skipping a few classes could be okay, and that a few risks was what made life worth living. Sometimes, he sat alone and looked back at the time when he hated the person who was now so close to his heart. He realised, that she didn't change him. No, she made him whole. All this time he'd been unaware of another side that existed in him. Then she had come along, and had made that side show on the surface. He realised what he'd been avoiding wasn't danger. No, it was happiness. Contentment. Wholeness. And she had given him all of that. She had made him what he was meant to be.
