Animal Crossing: Jordan Turns a New Leaf

Prologue:The No-Fur

I always loved trains as a kid, but I had never taken a train ride in my entire life. Lo and behold, my childhood passion happened to be one of the most boring things I have ever been through. The seats were itchy, the trip was bumpy, and sitting next to me was a business man; a bear; actually, that smelled of a cheap wine. Not even the taste of stale nachos with processed cheese sauce could numb my boredom, disgust, and regret. Was stepping on this train to move to this new town the right decision? I had left my family and friends back in the town of Sicamous, as well as all my belongings. What possessed me to leave home with nothing still eludes me to this very day.

As I pondered how sane I exactly was, an odd-looking cat in a red sweater approached me out of nowhere. He then asked "Is it alright if I sit here?" and before I could answer, he sits across from me with a stupidly smug look on his kitty-cat face. He introduced himself as Rover. Who names their kitten Rover? He then leaned over to me and with a puzzled look on his face, said "This town the train's headed to, is this the place?" he asked me, pulling out a map from what I assume was his fur.

"I don't think that's the right map, if my memory serves" I answered him as politely as possible, as he pulled out a few others for me to peruse. I then found the right one, the one I knew had to be the map of the town. "That one, right there! That's Syrup, the town I'm headed to."

"Really now!" Rover exclaimed cheerfully with a slight meow. His tail twitched cutely, delighted he had somebody to chat with today. "So this Syrup Town, have you ever been there before"?

Oddly enough, I couldn't recall whether I had been there as a child or not. I had just chosen to move to this town out of a desire to start a new life, with no real thought put into which town in particular I should move to. "...I don't remember. Heh."

This surprised the cat and for a moment I thought he might leave his seat, but unfortunately Rover stayed put. He then asked me why I was going to Syrup.

"Well, I happen to be moving there."I said.

"Oh, that's splendid! I hear Syrup is beautiful this time of year. Although I have heard they lack...municipal government. So you're going to move there, then?"

This cat definitely had it out for me, and liked to ask unnecessary questions. Luckily for me, the train had finally arrived at the station, and I could be free of the stench of drunk salary-men, cats in bad-sweaters, and the smell of diesel fuel.

I stretched and yawned while getting out of the train station, and was greeted by a small cadre of animals. I heard whispers of "filthy no-fur" from a few animals and a chuckle or two from a dainty looking penguin. I was immediately greeted by a cute, blonde shi-tzu doggy in a business woman outfit. She had a bell in her hair that made noises while she walked, and she smelled of lavender. She was honestly kinda pretty for an animal.

"Welcome to Syrup, our new mayor Jordan!" the cute dog exclaimed as she introduced me to a good view of the town. "My name is Isabelle, your new secretary!"

Wait a minute, this isn't right. I came to this town to live in here, I don't remember ever being asked to be its mayor! Isn't there political campaigns and elections needed for this? Still...it would be nice to have some power in my life for once. I guess I should go with the flow. "Well...I guess I'm your new mayor of Syrup." I warmly replied as a duck, lion and penguin clapped for me.
