AN: I've never written either Ban or Ginji before, and my area of 'expertise' lies only with Akabane. So... Forgive me if they do not seem perfect.
Starry Night
By Seph
For tonight, a cloudless star filled night, the sunroof was open despite the chill of oncoming winter. There was a lack of wind in the air, so the hole in the roof would not facilitate anything that would not be taking place from the nightly temperature drop. The thin walls of metal and plastic were poor insulation anyway.
Yet it was all they had.
Stretched out as comfortably as he could in the small compartment of the 360's interior, the invincible Mido Ban stared up at the open night sky. The customary purple glasses were drawn down to the tip of his nose therefore freeing those aquiline eyes -"The devil's eyes!"- to look unrestrained at the tapestry of heaven.
Remember the Ophiuchus... Do not forget the power held in the Serpent Holder, the relation to the serpent. It is the curse and tormented animal which reborns itself in a new skin each spring. Call upon the curse when you find yourself in a corner you cannot escape, and accept the damnation of its continual rebirth in loneliness. It has chosen you, and until the end arrives, you must live with its spell.
Ban closed his tired eyes. "Heh, as if I could forget," he whispered, a silent response to the haunting voice.
A moan drew Ban's attention from old burried memories to the young man curled in the seat beside him. Blond hair brushed against his left arm as Ginji shifted, his head and upper body falling sideways until he monopolized half of Ban's seat and part of his left side as well.
"Oi, Ginji... get off me. You're crushing my arm." As soft as his words were, the demand was not loud enough to draw more than a second moan from the slumbering blond.
"Hey, Ginji... Ginji..." Further attempts at a kind rousing failed when Ginji moved even closer into Ban's personal space.
"Mmmm... Ban-chan... Don't take my sushi..."
Despite himself, Ban had to smile. It was just like the eel to dream of food.
A sudden breeze picked up and flooded their inner bed space with all of the impending hints of oncoming winter. Sensing the dip in temperature, his partner beside him shivered. Assuming Ginji was not close enough before, the boy was now huddled tightly against his arm.
If he was cursed to a rebirth in loneliness, the process was held off the last two springs by the presence of this spirited young man. "Hn... proves the old woman's wrong." He kept his voice intentionally soft, this time with all intent and purpose to not wake his younger friend.
As he raised his right hand to close the inner roof surface, shutting out added chill along with the billion of stars beyond, he made a mental note to take out their winter clothes. The cold season was obviously coming and they would do well to prepare. But, for tonight, he gave Ginji a fond glance from behind purple shades, a bit of nestling would not hurt. His arm had already fallen asleep anyway.
