Author's Notes: This was written in August 2008 to celebrate the upcoming movie Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince. This story will be released over a period of one hundred days to celebrate the 100 Days of Harry Potter. This is my first Harry Potter story so please excuse me if I make an error in the story.
Chapter One
The Summer Intern
As usual, my day started out all fine. But that say turned into a disaster. My mom forced me to take the summer internship at the Ministry of Magic. Can you believe it? As if I was ever interested in that at all. But my mom got me to do it. ("It's an experience") It took a lot out of her. But at least at the end of the summer I get to see "The Deathly Hallows" in concert. Their band rocks! The name is sort of weird though. Anyway, when I have to get a job I know where I'll be working. That weasel something joke shop in Diagon Alley. All the popular kids work their. And you get a free discount! Well, back to my sad tale. That day was horrible. But here I am. The middle of the grand hall in the ministry. People are crowding around me. I have the quill and books they asked me to bring. Everything's ready. Except I don't know where to go. They gave me no instructions whatsoever except to come into the crowded hall and wait. I've waited for half an hour. No one has come. I began to doodle on a pad of paper I brought with me.
Hours later, or maybe minutes later, for I had forgotten the time, some lady was walking towards me. She had long brown hair and seemed to work here. She had this important thing about her I couldn't understand. She looked like she had a purpose. She was fairly young ,as far as I can tell. I knew she would be asking why I was here. Hopefully I would be kicked out!
"Are you here for the summer internship?" she questioned.
"Yes," I sighed.
"Well," said the woman. "Don't look so glum about it. You'll have fun!"
"That's likely," I sarcastically commented, looking around at the many politicians speaking about elf rights and changing the color of a Quidditch team's uniform.
"Oh," said the woman, "I can see what you mean by the uniform. But I am a major supporter of elf rights. I practically lead the cause. Anyway, you areā¦."
"I'm Demither Peverell," I said. "Can I ask what your name is?"
"Of course," said the woman, leading me to a lift and pushing a button for a level, "I'm Hermione Weasley."
Author's Notes: I'm sorry that this chapter was extremely short. I realized I needed to write something and fast for the 100 Days of Harry Potter opening. There will be more chapters coming soon.
