After the wedding in Vulcan, Jane was sure she would never be happy again.

She cried every day till her belly grew, especially after all those visits to Arev's parents' house.

They hated her. She could hear Arev's mother saying to him he would have a half-breed and Jane held herd belly, crying.

Arev was never affectionate, never said a sweet word, never made love to her, in any possible way.

It was as if they lived in diferent worlds. He was rude, mean, cruel.

At least that's was Jane felt.

And that horrible planet, stuffy, full of volcanic lava, peaks...

And she was studying like mad to enroll into Vulcan Science Academy. Arev didn't know. He would never know. Since she would never enroll.

Jane and Arev discussed entering home. He was furious.

"Why do you always have to embarrass my parents, Jane?"

She laughed, sitting.

"Because I don't obey you? Because I'm not submissive?"

He grabbed her right arm none too gently.

"Let me go!"

"You must respect the Vulcan way, Human! I've already accepted a half-breed and shamed my family marrying you!"

When Arev stared at her teary grey eyes, he immediatelly regretted what he had said. But what was said, was said.

"So that's how you feel. So that how's logical."

Tears went down her cheek.

"Jane..." Arev reached out to her. She ran out of the house.

Well. It was only logical to look for her.

Jane had been on a stone, staring at an abyss where there was molten lava. There was nothing left for her in Vulcan anymore. She held her belly with love. She would die to spare her child of all that hatred. What a horrible place. She had been gathering courage there for fifiteen minutes, sweating in that heat.

Till she heard a hateful voice.

"Jane? Jane? What are you doing? Get out off there!"

She didn't even deing to look. She would jump. He knew.

"Jane, I know I said hateful things, but it was out of pride! I didn't marry you out of duty, or logic! I married you because I—I love you."

Finally, she looked at him.

"You're just saying that! Enough! You won't dissuade me! You don't even want your child!"

Jane finally jumped. Arev was near enough and grabbed her left wrist. He managed to pull her up.

"You would do it. You really would. Are you that unhappy?"

She held him, soaking his clothes.

"I was studying to enroll into Vulcan Science Academy. But I know it's impossible."

"Had you said before..." he held her tighter. "I have conneccions. I don't intend to study ever again, so I can care for our child."

Jane kissed him.

"Oh Arev... Why are you so... inconsistent?"

Arev wanted to watch her wife to give birth. And regretted. She seemed to be in a lot of pain, for hours, whilst he could do nothing and did nothing.

When it was born, it was a girl. He fell in love instantaneously.

"How are you?" Arev, asked his wife.

"More than tired. But it was worth it. She took after you."

Absurdly, he gave a smile.

"I'm half-vulcan, my love. My human part sometimes overcomes."

"Wha—what?"

"Yes. My Mother hates me. But our daughter won't know this kind of unbalance and loveliness."

Jane gave a huge smile and collapsed.

N'Vea was one year old and had really taken after Arev. At least she had less chance to be bullied.

So the accord had been, while Jane studied at Vulcan Science Academy, having been awarded a schorlarship to specially maintain the house, Arev took care of N'Vea till Jane came back.

And he never had so much fun.

His parents hated Jane now even further, and were against this arrangement. They cut ties with his son for unlimited time.

Nonetheless, life was good.
