It was like every other day really, Jaime had woken up, gotten dressed and went to school. It was at school things started to get a little weird…er.
He was sitting through forth period science and staring out the window. He wasn't worried about getting called on for an answer because the scarab always supplied it to him and him only.
"The answer is Magnesium, insolent pest." He heard the scarab hiss and was about to open his mouth to answer when his teacher, Mr. Gould, raised his voice.
"Excuse me, Jaime?" He questioned angrily. Jaime honestly had no idea what happened.
"What, sir?" He asked innocently.
"Oh, it's sir now, what happened to insolent pest!" Jaime's eyes grew large as he realized what happened.
"I'm sorry sir," he immediately apologized, "um may I use the restroom?"
"Hm." Mr. Gould growled as he gestured to the door. Jaime headed straight for the nearest door out. It wouldn't be the first time he played hooky, but he needed to figure out why they could hear them.
"The educator was suspicious, we must annihilate him." The scarab hissed again as kids stared at Jaime.
"They can hear you!" He exclaimed in a whisper and he left the building and went in an alley to change.
As soon as he changed he immediately headed over to the hall. He thought it would be empty, because most of the team had some type of school. As he entered he looked around.
"Hello?" He called to nobody. Then he relaxed and pulled back the armor. "Okay, why can other people hear you?" He asked the scarab.
"The knowledge is new to me as well." Jaime sighed, "Great."
"Someone in here?" Jaime heard Mal as he walked in, "Jaime, aren't you supposed to be in school?" Jaime just smiled and tried to think up an excuse.
"Um, no, we had a, um, half day." He stammered out trying to convince Mal.
"You are a pathetic liar, annihilate the suspicious one." The scarab suggested before Jaime could stop it.
"What was that?" Mal asked. Jaime sighed.
"It's the scarab. I don't know why, but know everyone can hear it."
"Wait, that thing talks to you?" Mal clarified and Jaime nodded his head, "So, you're not crazy?"
"He is a threat, offensive tactics recommended."
"Not crazy, just unlucky." Jaime smiled sadly and Mal laughed at the hostility of the beetle.
"Here, let me try to fix it." Before Jaime or the scarab could react, Mal reached around and smacked Jaime on the back.
Attack, providing armor. The scarab hissed in Jaime's head as Jaime forcibly suited up.
"Did you hear anything?" He asked Mal.
"Nothing." The large boy confirmed and Jaime exhaled a breath of relief. "Now go back to school."
