Sound the bugle now - Play it just for me.

As the seasons change - Remember how I used to be.

Now I can't go on - I can't even start.

I've got nothing left - just an empty heart.

Graystripe looked out of the window in his Twoleg house. He looked over to his right and he saw a tabby she-cat.

"What's your name?"

"My name is Cody, what's yours?"

"Graystripe."

"That's a lot like Leafpaw's name! Do you know her?"

"Yes, I do! Do you know where they went; I want to go back to them. "

"Well, there's nothing I can do about that, it's hard enough for me to get out, and they've had me since I was a kitten!"

Cody then went over to the window and curled up in a sunbeam. Soon the she-cat was fast asleep.

I'm a soldier - wounded so I must give up the fight.

Graystripe was clawing at the window with his stubbly claws.

"Those mouse-brained Twolegs! They clipped my claws and they'll take a moon to grow back to their proper length!"

When the Twoleg saw him clawing at the window, it yowled at him and picked him off the ground, much to his distaste.

It put him in a cage and into a Twoleg monster. Cody was in the cage next to him.

"Where are we going?"

"You are going to be altered and I'm going to get my shots."

"Why didn't you tell me that earlier?!"

"I thought that, I you were altered, you would want to stay with me."

Graystripe gazed at the she-cat who was obviously in love with him, but his heart would always lay with Silverstream.

There's nothing more for me - lead me away...

Or leave me lying here.

Cody's POV

After scratching at the latch on his cage, Graystripe's cage gave way.

Cody watched him tumble onto the street and mewed, frantically tried to undo her own latch,

she couldn't let the cat she loved get away!

As she leapt into the street, she saw Graystripe's tail disappear into what was left of the forest.

Maybe, they could get into the barn where Leafpaw's friend lived.

Sound the bugle now - Tell them I don't care.

There's not a road I know - That leads to anywhere.

Without a light, I fear that I will - Stumble in the dark.

Lay right down - Decide not to go on.

Graystripe's POV

As Graystripe pelted into the forest, he heard the sound of paw steps behind him.

"The Twolegs are chasing after me!"

Then he caught a familiar scent, Cody.

"What is she doing here?" He thought to himself.

"Graystripe, wait up, don't leave me!"

"Silly she-cats!"

Graystripe slowed down and let the tabby she-cat catch up.

When she did, she slowed to a walk, and motioned for Graystripe to do the same.

Then from on high - Somewhere in the distance,

There's a voice that calls - Remember who you are.

If you lose yourself - your courage soon will follow.

Cody's POV

As Cody and Graystripe neared Ravenpaw's and Barley's barn, Cody's heart

was breaking.

"I have to leave him soon; he won't let me come with him to his clan."

As she looked over at his sleeping form, she felt an un-dying love for the tom.

"I'll never stop loving him."

As morning broke, Graystripe was preparing to leave. He felt as if he could fly! It was as if he could soar into the sky like a bird.

But as Graystripe trotted over the hill towards the mountains, Cody's heart was flying with him.

The tabby she-cat watched mournfully as her one true love disappeared into the early morning fog.

So be strong tonight - Remember who you are.

You're a soldier now - fighting in a battle.

To be free once more - That's worth fighting for.
