Charlie and Lola's House - Lola's Room

"No, Lola." Charlie said staring at his little sister in disbelief.

"But, why Charlie?" she pleaded in her best little girl voice. Charlie sighed in exasperation .

He loved Lola, he really did but she could be so irritating sometimes. He looked up at the ceiling for silent support before turning and pinning her with his best brother look.

"Because, I don't think Dad would like it and I know I don't like it. Leave it alone Lola, please" he pleaded.

"But, Charlie you said you would help me." she said sitting on her bed and pouting.

"Lola, you don't need my help and I don't recall saying that." he said sitting beside his sister.

Lola looked rather upset but she said nothing. Charlie looked at her and knew she wouldn't say anything further but he felt guilty in the oppressing silence.

"Alright, I'll ask but don't expect anything ok." he said wrapping an arm around her shoulders.

Lola smiled and nodded, looking pleased as Charlie got up, walked out of her room and into the hallway.

She got up and closed the door behind him. She sat back on her bed, smoothed out her skirt and waited for Charlie to come back.

10 Minutes Later - Lola's Room

"I asked and Marv said he'll go to homecoming with you." Charlie said clearly annoyed at his friend's response.

"Please, remember he is still my friend ok, Lola" Charlie said not liking the idea of his best friend and little sister doing anything without him present.

"Thank you, Charlie. You're the best big brother." she said and smiled at him.

He smiled down at her head and she proceeded to hug him to death.

10 minutes ago - Marv's House

"Marv, telephone!" his mother shouted down the hallway. His mother walked to his door and pounded on the door to be heard over the deafeningly loud music.

"What?" Marv answered the door and peaked out.

"It's Charlie," his mother told him handing him the phone and walking downstairs.

"Hey Charlie," Marv answered. "I thought you had homework and couldn't come over." he said

"I do," he said pausing uncomfortably. "Charlie …?" Marv asked.

"Marv, will you do me a favor and go with Lola to Homecoming," Charlie said in a rush.

"What? Charlie are you serious." Marv asked surprised and a little freaked.

"Just go with her, she has this huge crush on you and won't leave me alone." he said annoyance creeping into his voice.

"Sure, um when is it?" Marv asked clearly surprised that Charlie was going along with this.

"The 21st , pick her up at 8:00. " Charlie said quietly.

"Ok, but you owe me Charlie." Marv said jokingly. Charlie smiled and said, " Yeah, I know. " a slight pause was heard before Charlie said quietly," Thanks , Marv."

"Sure." he said and before he could hang up Charlie said, "Oh, Marv?"

"Yeah?" Marv asked. "She's my little sister, remember that. Okay." Charlie said it in a deceptively mild voice but Marv couldn't suppress the urge to suddenly be on Charlie's good side.

"Yeah, like a sister to me, Charlie." Marv said and hung up.

Charlie's & Lola's House - Before Lola's Room

Charlie sighed and replaced the phone on its cradle. 'If he touches her, I'll have to kill him." Charlie said to himself thoughtfully as he headed to Lola's room to tell her the not so good news.

"The things I do for you Lola." Charlie said to himself and he thought of his little sister, who much to his dismay was not so little and in fact would soon be sixteen.

His brain suddenly hurt and he knew the cause of it was currently sitting on her bed behind that door, unaware she was slowly killing her brother.

The End… maybe
