My eternal companion.

You were there with me at the beginning.

The moment when I died.

The moment I awoke in the Hunters dream.

You awaited my arrival.

You were at my side, fighting against the horrors of the night. You fought alongside me against the massive Cleric beast. You withstood the wrath of Father Gascoigne's fury.

You followed me, even when darkness came and the moon hung high, into the depths of the Forbidden woods. Bested the Shadows of Yharnam.

We both laid waste to Rom, the Vacuous Spider and saw both the true nature of the world.

We ventured through the afflicted village Yahar'Gul, slayed the One reborn.

Venturing into the nightmare of Mensis, we both grew stronger. Your presence kept me calm even during the storm of Frenzy. Your touch soothed my after chasing Micolash through his dungeons.

You silenced the cries of Mergo and brought down the first Nightmare.

You were always at my side, even until the end. Fighting the First Hunter. Besting him and his eternal companion.

You were always there for me.

My friend.

My Trick weapon.

A/N:

I saw once in a Lore video about a theory for the Trick Weapons.

The theory isn't new, but it fascinates me.

When we get our first weapon, we usually upgrade it and later replace it for a better weapon. Yet in some way, some of us are just attached to the weapon they have. We would't part with it.

We, the hunters, gain our strength through Bloodechoes, which are fortified into our body through the Plain Doll. And Bloodechoes are the remains of a living beings. Then comes the Bloodstones. Here is something I got from the wiki:

"A solid shard that forms in coldblood.

After death, a substance in the blood hardens, and that which does not crystallize is called a blood stone.

At the workshop, these bloodstones are embedded in weapons to fortify them."

Weapons grow stronger the more Bloodstones we fortify into them. They grow even more powerful by forcing Bloodgems into us. These weapons are like us, we grow stronger by each Bloodecho and we place runes into our minds to enhance us.

My conclusion:

The Trick Weapons are actually sentient in some way, they are not a mere extension of ourselves. When you get hurt, you get the chance to regain your health by striking back.

I think the weapon itself draws the life from our victims and give us the stolen health. It works similar to a parasite, feeding of us to survive and grant us greater strength.

Small Lore fic.

To me, that means that the trick are alive. After all, some are made by living beings or require the blood to function. Imagine that, the wespon you hold is a sentient being and grows with the hunter. That would be a really awesome thing, don't you think?
