Fireside Cuddles

A/N: A Christmas story for Dark Kaneanite. Hope you enjoy darling!

"And darkness and decay and the Red Death held illimitable dominion over all," Luke read as his new pet laid with his head in Luke's lap. Though the story, Edgar Allen Poe's The Masque of the Red Death, was one of death and destruction, the feeling that Luke held was one of contentedness. Usually a story like this would darken his mood and send him for a walk or to chop wood so that he could cool down. Since the ginger curled up in his lap had come to live with him and the rest of the family, things had been different. He wasn't as surly as he once was, he had more reason to live now.

"I love that story Jethro," Heath yawned from his spot curled up on Luke's lap. The ginger remembered why he had come to the farm in the first place. There had been a missing girl, the girl who was now somewhere curled up with Bray Wyatt himself, and he as a rookie cop had been sent in to retrieve her. Though the relationship had started out rocky and with pain, Heath now couldn't imagine himself without the good ol' boy he was cuddled close to.

"Why?" Luke asked, closing the book and placing it on the table next to them in the small room that served as the library. It was lit by the glow of a roaring fire that eminated from the fireplace. While the library was only a few shelves, it was stock full of the books that he loved. After all, Bray had his own library and Erik rarely ever read. "It's a story about how death succeeds. You're so...innocent."

"Innocent? Oh Jethro you know I'm anything but innocent," Heath laughed as he leaned up to steal a kiss from him.

Luke laughed, running his hand through those ginger locks. He loved the young man for all that he made him feel. "Tell me, Ginger, would you rather keep reading stories back and forth or would you like something more active..."

"As fun as Poe is," Heath smirked as he sat up on his knees to look at Luke, "I'd rather have you than a book any old day. If you want to keep reading, then we can keep reading. If you want sex, well, I'm all for that too."

Luke chuckled and shook his head. As much as he loved sex with his Heath, the story had put him in the opposite of horny. Instead, he cuddled up close to Heath, turning the page in the anthology to read the next story with Heath. Cuddled here in the library with his sweet little pet, it made the Christmas season have a meaning.
