A/N: Because I wanted to do a somewhat sulky one-shot to get my mind off of my own problems.
Disclaimer: I don't own Gundam Wing and I make no profit from this.
Heero was the summer boy Relena had always wanted.
He was quiet, and he seemed cold at first. But as Relena spent more and more time with him, she found that he did care. He was the type that he didn't mind sitting with her on her family's beach-house porch if it meant he got to be with her.
Very well, summer boy. Relena told herself. She couldn't get too attached; they were only going to leave the beach-house when it was time for her to go back to school. She hoped he was nothing but a summer fling, an easy love.
Some days she found him waiting outside her window before she woke up. Something that would've scared normal people, but to her, it was amazing. It made her feel needed, wanted, special.
I'll have to leave soon, summer boy. Relena would think as she cuddled with him on the sand. Still, she couldn't help but feel sad. Heero was the kind of guy that she could lay on the beach in her bikini and not feel self-conscious, or even that he was staring at her breasts. He was too kind-hearted to be a real boyfriend, too sweet. He could never survive in her real life, where everyone was going at her family every day. Suddenly, Relena was happy to be able to leave him behind, she didn't want to break his sugary little heart.
So long, summer boy. She told herself as she gave him one last kiss. The car was packed, and she had to leave, but she wouldn't forget him. She couldn't forget him.
The days passed, and fall turned to winter. Instead of sand underfoot, there was snow and ice. Relena couldn't stand the thought of snow, though she couldn't understand why.
School days passed, and boys asked Relena out. She said no, she couldn't stop thinking of her summer boy. Heero had been her everything for those few months, and there had been no one else. Nobody else had counted when Heero was waiting outside her window, ready to catch her when she crawled out.
Relena spent weekends by herself. She had given up Heero, and now she was alone. She didn't want anyone else; she wanted her figment of summer. Her brown haired boy that held her while her parents fought. She wanted to be loved like she hadn't since the sunshine faded into clouds.
When Relena's mother called her daughter to the door, saying there was someone who wanted to see her, Relena didn't want to go. Likely it was a friend, or some other boy who wanted her attentions. She only wanted Heero, her piece of sunshine in a darkened world.
But when she came to the door, she realized it was him. He had paled slightly with the coming of winter, he had grown taller, and his hair was a bit longer. But there was no mistaking it; it was Heero.
Relena launched herself at him, glad that for once, her summer boy could be her winter boy as well.
A/N: Well, I managed to do it with no dialogue. That surprised me. Anyway, what'd you think?
