Disclaimer: I don't own LOTR :(
This is a poem I randomly came up with and it is NOT SLASH its just FREINDSHIP… Ok? Good
The Truest Friend
'Frodo Baggins – the bravest hobbit'
That's what they call me
'He destroyed the Ring of Power
And resisted its darkest evil'
And then they say…
'most of all, he did it by himself'
That's were I say 'stop, you've got it wrong'
'He did destroy the Ring of Power
He did resist its evil,
But the quest would've failed
Without the wisest truest friend'
'Samwise Gamgee' they sneer 'what an empty headed dumpling'
'What use was he in the war?'
'He never did anything but hinder Frodo's quest'
'He teased and bullied Sméagol'
'He grumbled and groaned about walking'
'His mind always on food'
But what they don't understand is
Frodo destroyed the Ring of Power
He held back its darkest evil
Because Samwise Gamgee was there
Because Sam was there to carry him
When the burden was too heavy
Because Sam was there to make sure he ate
When the Ring consumed his mind
Because Sam was there to make sure he slept
When the Ring kept him awake
Because Sam was there to make him walk
To fulfil his all important quest
Because Sam was there every step of the way
What some people don't understand is…
That without Samwise Gamgee
The War would have been lost
The whole of Middle Earth would've been consumed in darkness and despair…
The Shire a barren wasteland,
The Forests razed to the ground
Rohan robbed of its horses,
And Gondor of its splendour,
And all the might of Elves and Dwarves and Men
Would have been shattered in an instant
But Sam was there
Every step of the way Sam was there
So Sauron is defeated,
His Ring destroyed forevermore
Because Sam helped Frodo
The Shire is lush and green
The hobbits blissfully unaware of the Big Worlds Wars
Because Sam was there
The Forests stand proud and tall
The Ents marching through their ancient lands
Because Sam helped Frodo
Rohans riders have their horses
Their pastures rich and full
Because Sam was there
Gondors splendour still remains
The Crownless is now King
Because Sam helped Frodo
Middle Earth is now at peace
All evil banished forevermore
The fellowship saved it for everyone
Everybody but me
The last pages are for Samwise the Brave
And as I stand on the shores of the sea
I look back at the wisest truest friend
And send him a smile filled with love and happiness
Because I know it's not the end.
