A/N: So, I was reading MoonStarDuchess' Royai fic about paperclips, and I guess I got inspired by it. So thanks, MSD! ^^ Hope everyone enjoys!

Disclaimer: I own nothing. Not even coffee. My family is more of a tea-type... I don't like tea either.

Mustang stared at his paperwork, but couldn't concentrate as the words were swimming before his eyes. A soft thud sounded to his right, and he blinked to clear his vision. A cup of hot coffee sat next to his endless stack of uncompleted work.

"That should keep you awake," Hawkeye commented as she sat down at her own desk.

Mustang smiled his thanks, and picked up the mug. Riza is so thoughtful sometimes, he said to himself. Well, all the time. A sudden notion crossed his mind, making him stop mid-gulp. What have I done for her?

He frowned. He couldn't think of a single thing he'd ever done for Riza. Irritated, he began drumming his fingers on his desk.

"Is something the matter, sir?" Hawkeye looked up.

Mustang sat in silence, an annoyed expression on his face.

"Sir?" Hawkeye sounded concerned, but she wondered if this was a new ploy to get out of doing paperwork.

"…What have I ever done for you?" Mustang demanded, more to himself than to his subordinate.

Hawkeye raised an eyebrow. "Come again, sir?"

"You're always protecting my back, covering for me, getting me coffee," Mustang gestured at the half-empty mug in frustration.

"That's what I'm supposed to do, sir." Hawkeye examined the colonel carefully. He was genuinely upset.

"Not getting coffee! I didn't even ask for it!"

"Well, you looked half-asleep, drooling all over your desk, so I think that counts as asking, sir," Hawkeye barely suppressed a smile.

"The point is," Mustang crossed his arms, "that I haven't ever thanked you or anything. And that's not good!"

"Your gratitude is appreciated, sir," Hawkeye sighed. "If you really want to thank me, you could get back to work."

"Not with this bothering me!" Mustang groaned. "If I wasn't distracted before, I am now!" He brightened. "I know! I'll get you some coffee. That'll be a start, at least." The colonel stood up abruptly, knocking over the mug in his haste. Dark brown liquid spread across the desk and started seeping into the papers.

"Colonel!" Hawkeye sounded exasperated as she found some paper towels. "Ruining your paperwork won't make it go away."

Mustang grabbed some towels and began mopping up his spill. "I didn't do it on purpose this time! Augh! There you go again, cleaning up my mess."

Hawkeye paused and looked up. "You don't give yourself enough credit, sir," she said quietly. "You do so much for me without even realizing it."

"Not anything good, I suppose." Mustang was in a foul mood now.

"Need I remind you of Laboratory 3?"

Roy frowned even more. "No, you don't need to. You almost died. Because of me."

"I lived because of you," Riza corrected. She smiled faintly. "All I need is you."

Roy contemplated her statement for a moment. He finally let out a sigh and dropped the assorted papers soaked with coffee into the trash bin. "Still. I feel I should do more sometimes."

"Well, sir," Hawkeye replied in a business-like manner, "I'd appreciate a cup of coffee anytime."

A/N: I hope that incident happened under laboratory 3, because that's what I typed XD Well? I know it was short, but was it satisfactory? Review! Please? ^^
