A/N: This isn't very well written, but it's been bugging me. It has nothing to do with Wing It, just to be clear, and it will just remain a oneshot.
Told by Fang's daughter, set after oh, let's say, Fang's 100 or something.
Dad had always been the strong one.
But after the longest time, years and years after Mom died, and after he became a great-great grandfather, he began to slip away. He began to get lost in the house, forget the day and date, and forget the names of the grand-kids. Dad began to forget things like his own name... Or at least, the official name that was on all the certificates and papers and things.
What's surprising is what he does remember. He still responds to "Fang", but he can't remember why. He can still remember that he blew up an ITEX building using fireworks and Uncle Iggy attached a sparkler to the rubble when they flew over a week later to commemorate Dad's awesomeness. He can remember his flock mates, but not their names. He can't remember much else, he can't remember everyone's names or who're they're married to, but he can remember that he had glory days and good times out there in the past. He knows he's a football fan, and whenever he sees red-headed cheerleaders he laughs so hard it's contagious, and I don't know why. All of my uncles come over every weekend to watch a game with him, and they laugh too; but they won't tell me why either.
But the most important thing that Dad remembers is that he loves his wife. He can't always remember her name, or how they met, and he can't remember the years and years they spent together. He can't remember anything except her face and his love for her. When he sees her picture, he cries because he still loves her, and insists we buy her flowers—not the pink ones, because she hated pink, but the white and yellow roses, the big ones, because they smelled nice and were her favorite.
And this is what remains: Love, friendship and football.
I'd say Dad's still going strong.
