This is a labor of love! I have put so many hours into this. I truly hope you enjoy it! I have many chapters all ready written up and a full plan on how it will end, so please do not threat, this will be completed and updated regularly!

Anyway Garbiner is my favorite character from Magical Diary, and once I had gone through the game several times (to get all the endings) I really wished for there to be another one to continue such a great story. The characters are so much more in-depth and complex than other dating sims/novel games and so this is my tribute to such a wonderful game!

Please note: I have dyslexia and so there may be spelling and grammar errors, if you wish to help me and become my editor for the series please let me know. ^^

Please -review, fave and follow etc.

Magical Diary fanfic – Intertwine Divine!

Chapter one!

Rosanna Gale Sighed. She was sitting at her window looking out over her parent's driveway, enjoying the pitter patter sound of the rain as it fell, idly watching the wobbly patterns of the water as it ran down the window.

Only a week now, and I'll be back in Iris Academy, it'll amazing to see my friends again. This summer seems like it has lasted forever. She thought to herself as she picked up the various letters she had sitting next to her. It's not like she didn't enjoy her summer after all, her parents had taken her on a camping trip near the seaside and she had been making sure she kept up to-date on her studies, but it was very frustrating when she couldn't actually use her magic to get in any practise in. She was never top of her class, but she had passed her first year well enough learning a bit about all forms of magic rather than just focusing on one or two types. Green and Red magic where her most favourite types, which is odd really being Red spells were often used to destroy and Green was used to heal. Still, she did alight in her classes when she didn't oversleep and miss them, though often she arrived late to classes having got distracted by something on the way. She was determined to try harder next year; after all she had someone she wanted to impress – Her husband.

She didn't mean to get married to a Professor of the academy but though a series of unfortunate events, mostly due to her foolishness, she found herself married to Professor Hieronymous Grabiner. She had found him in the accounting room unconscious on the floor; in the centre of a magic circle where he had summoned a Manus –an otherworld spirit. Instead of going to get help she jumped into the circle and tried to 'save' Grabiner but in the end it was her that needed saving. Grabiner married her so that the Manus wouldn't devour her soul; the Manus was a servant to the Grabiner family name and could not harm a member of the family.

Rosanna pushed her short blue hair out of her eyes – her parents had gone nuts when they had first found out she had magically dyed her hair a pale cyan (not that they knew it was due to a spell and not ordinary hair dye)–originally it was a dull brownish black which she hated.

She shifted though the letters, she had read them all a dozen times but it was her only form of contact to the magical world right now so they were of great comfort. There where various ones from her friends – Ellen, Virginia, Luke and even a battered one from Donald written in surprisingly neat writing despite its childish content.

But of the course the ones she valued most was the two letters she had gotten from her husband. No she didn't plan on marrying Grabiner, however she did have a long term crush on him despite him being an older man and teacher. She didn't know his age but he was handsome in his own way, his dark way hair wrapped around his neck, he was tall and skinny and his deep brown eyes stood out against his pale skin. Grabiner was grumpy, stern and always finding a reason to give students demerits and detention. Despite all this she knew where was far more to him and his cold distant exterior.

So she read the letters again;

-Miss Gale

He never really addressed her as his wife, to her mild disappointment.

I hope this letter finds you in good stead and you are enjoying your holiday. I myself have already began preparations for next year's lessons, though I must admit that being away from the academy and the students has been most relaxing. Remember to study over the summer; your grades suffer enough as it is and the professors won't be as lenient on your tardiness as we were last year. Remember you will have new teachers this year not just Mrs Potsdam and I.

It is important that you try harder this year.

Yours

H. Grabiner

She had herself sent him several letters, asking him all manner of things –she was dying to know more about him and his life outside the academy but in he never gave anything away in his letters. It was frustrating but at the very least he had written to her.

-Miss Gale

No I do not own any pets, though I'm not sure what that question has to do with anything? As for asking I use the darned "T.V" thing the Mundane use – any blithering idiot would know that I have no contact with such things.

-She blushed at the thought of having asked a silly question but it was the fourth letter she had sent to him with no reply so she had just ran on asking about whatever first came to her head. This perhaps wasn't the best idea she had had.

And yes before you go on sending me let more letters I have received them all, but I have been rather preoccupied and have found more important things to do instead of writing to you. Anyway despite this summer being surprisingly short I have gotten a lot of things done and have my labours have been most fruitful.

I will see you in September, when the new term starts; it won't then be long till February when we shall be able to get divorced and put this whole mess behind us.

Yours

H. Grabiner.

Although the second letter seemed more harsh and somewhat cruel to her feelings she knew that he was probably just in one of his funny moods and hadn't taken her last few letters well – probably down to how long and now light hearted she had written them. She did in-fact send him two more letters after she received his second one but wasn't really expecting a reply. She had hoped that the letters had helped him to keep her in his mind though.

The next week dragged for Rosanna –she had packed and unpacked her suit cases several times, trying to get the time to go faster. At last the weekend came and she was dropped off at the train station by her mother who tried to give her a lecture about growing up and safe sex during the drive to the station, Rosanna merely rolled her eyes and let her mum ramble on – her mother didn't know she was married after all, and she was sixteen –nearly seventeen at the end of the month and was pretty sure she knew all about the birds and the bees at this point.

She lulled her luggage onto the train muddying her new blue jeans as she did and took the short journey into the town near the academy where she would jump on the schools shuttle bus to take her the rest of the way. When she finally made it too her dorm her roommates where already unpacking they had a bigger room this year, the desks where larger and they had more cupboards to divide up between them. Rosanna was greeted with a big warm hug from Ellen and a quick one from a smiling Virginia.

"Your hair Ellen!" remarked Rosanna; "I swear it's grown massively, over the summer! Long hair really suits you!"

"Thanks!" replied a blushing Ellen who had returned to neatly unpacking her clothes.

"We had a fantastic holiday! We went to Florida no less. Ellen has been getting along with Donald little too well if you ask me…" said Virginia giving Ellen a smirk who merely blushed and looked away.

"Staying with Virginia's magical family was fun, they were very welcoming and happy to have me stay, being well you know I couldn't go home an all." Ellen was a Wildseed –a witch born from a non-magical family like Rosanna, she had been having problems at home with her parents and as a result she had decided to turn away from the mundane world fully and live amongst the people she felt more at home –other witches and wizards. She loved her parents and was very sad to have to leave them but things had gotten so bad she didn't have much of a choice.

Virginia flashes an arm towards Rosanna "Don't you just love my tan! I spent most of the holiday enjoying the sun, whilst miss factor 50 here just hid behind her books!"

Rosanna glanced down at Virginia dark brown skin perplexed, she didn't say anything because she didn't want to be rude but how could…

"Just kidding! Kidding! It was fantastic weather in Florida though; I swear the sun has lightened my hair." She pulled down a curl from her messy deep red hair to take a quick look before letting it go and it pinged back into place.

The girls continued to talk about their holidays and what they did whilst they unpacked, all three of them where in high spirits and as the day went on Rosanna stumbled into various other people she knew and had a hearty chat.

It's so good to be back! This is more like home than home was it feels…She thought that Sunday evening whilst lying in bed. She was almost enjoying the loud familiar snores coming from Varginia's bed. It was annoying but reassuring that her friend was there at the same time. Shame I haven't had time to even speak to my husband yet. She smiled to herself upon thinking the word 'husband' Well I have Red magic class tomorrow, and Blue after that….I know he's still teaching us then, but Wednesday is Green magic and that's with a new Professor- Mr Quill I think it was... hmm that'll be interesting. She glanced up at the clock they had placed over their dormitory door –twelve thirty. Rosanna sighed and rolled over covering her head with the duvet and eventually drifted off to sleep.

Rosanna sat at the front of Grabiner's Red magic class next to Ellen, Her heart skipped a beat as their teacher walked in and slammed his book down on his desk. His piercing eyes glanced at her and he gave her a curt nod of acknowledgement before turning to the rest of the class waiting for the last few stragglers to enter and sit themselves down.

"Cold as ever that man" Whispered a grumpy Ellen to Rosanna; "Has he even talked to you since we've been back yet?"

"Well no but he's been busy so I plan on staying back at lunch to try and talk to him" she whispered back.

"He should have talked to you first, and only writing two letters to you all summer – he's supposed to be your husband it's his duty to be more civil and attentive to you."

"I don't mind honestly. It's not a big deal."

She was stopped by a loud fake cough from Grabiner "If you two are done whispering to each other I would like to start my class." Ellen and Rosanna looked around the room guiltily but didn't say another word.

"This week we will be going over what you learned last year, as no doubt the summer has addled your brains and pushed out everything important you learned before now. It will also be a chance for me to find out who bothered to take the time to study over the summer months." He gave a slight dark grin to the class, clearly planning on enjoying the torture he was about to deal out to his students.

The morning passed without any real event, Grabiner had a habit of picking on Rosanna for the harder questions but she was partly expecting this and tried to answer them all even if she didn't get them all right. When the bell for lunch rang she held back taking her time to slowly pack away her things waiting for the other students to leave.

"So how was your holiday..Sir?" she asked tentatively.

"It was quite pleasant overall thank you Rosanna. Your many letters gave away that you were having an acceptable time too?" He replied dryly. She blushed slightly and glanced away from his gaze down at the book she was holding.

"Well yes it was ok…only" her voice trailed off.

"Only?" He gave her a quizzical look.

"Well I know that my family don't really remember that I go to a magical school but even with general stuff it's a little like living with strangers, I was very close to my mother growing up but now…"

"It tends to happen with Wildseeds their non-magical families become increasingly harder to get along with the more the secrets deepen and the more the witch or wizard loses touch from the mundane world."

She sighed; "I know that but I was hoping to at least bond with them a bit before I…" She paused momentarily in thought and then continued; "I probably won't return home when I graduate…or probably see them much at all really."

"Most Wildseeds go to seek jobs or further education after they graduate in the magical world" He paused and the sides of his mouth twitched into a small dark grin; "If they graduate, and at the rate you're going that can be questionable."

She looked directly at him sternly her face slightly agitated.

"I am trying Sir and you know I am! I promise I will keep trying my best."

Garbiner smirked a little, she was easily so wound up, always trying to push onwards and aiming high despite her failings. He picked up his book ready to leave.

"As you did an adequate job last year as student treasurer, Professor Postdam has asked that you carry on this year as well, unless you have any objections?"

"No, that's fine thanks" she smiled, knowing it meant she would get to spend more time with him when she divided out the students allowances each Saturday.

She then chirped up; "Will you perhaps join me for lunch Hieronymous?" He looked at her blankly mildly surprised at the unexpected request like she had lost her mind.

"I think not. I have other stuff to attend to." Without another word he hastily left the room leaving her to wonder down to the cafeteria alone.

Wednesday soon came and she was sitting in her Green magic class waiting for their new teacher to enter. When he did finally enter he was at least five minutes late, his greying white hair dishevelled and his deep red robes askew like he had only just gotten out of bed. He appeared to be in his early forties, but still had a very handsome look about him; he was well built with a pleasant smiling face that was easy on the eyes.

"So sorry I'm late class, so sorry" He scribbled his name on the board "I am Professor Quill, you have probably seen me around the school, I teach Green and White magic to second and third year students. Now today we will re-cap what you did last year just to refresh those skills now shall we." He was grinning broadly as groans rippled through the class, that was all they had done so far this week, go over some of last year's work to refresh their memories.

All was going smoothly until; "So who can tell me the runes of a basic healing spell, Miss…eh" He looked down at this list of names "Garbiner…Oh are you related to Hieronymous at all?"

Rosanna blushed ;"No Sir, I'm his well…"

"She's his wife! I thought everyone knew that at his point?" chirped up a cheerful Logan Phifer, he was Luke's twin who Rosanna knew far better than him. She merely nodded avoiding Professor Quill's gaze, whose constant smile dropped a little.

"I wasn't aware, of such inappro…hmm" He paused looking a little worried but his face soon picked up and he was back to his friendly smile "Anyway…"

Later that evening Rosanna discussed what happened with Virginia and Ellen both whom where with her in the Green magic class that day.

"Well it is odd for a student to marry a Professor; he was probably just surprised at the idea that's all" Said Ellen who wasn't fond of the idea of her friend being married to a professor herself.

"Yeah but you know you would have thought the other teachers would have told him, I mean all the students know and such" Replied Virginia who was munching on a fondant fancy. It had been a secret originally until Minnie Cochran; student rep and friend of Rosanna had let it slip and so it became public knowledge, her and Professor Potsdam where the only two people at the wedding ceremony after all. Minnie was eventually forgiven by Rosanna though Minnie was never quite in the good books of professor Grabiner anymore, despite being one of the top students in the class.

"Well if the other professors didn't tell him and he doesn't listen to student gossip." Rosanna shrugged taking a fondant offered to her by Virginia. They discussed it a little further but the topic soon devolved into other less serious subjects.

Rosanna slammed her hand on her alarm at 5am on the Saturday morning. She groaned and pushed her hair out of her eyes before climbing clumsily out of bed, shoving on her school robes and carefully left the dorm without waking up her room mates. After freshening up in the bathroom she wondered sleepily down to the accounting room. The room was empty when she entered and she pulled out the cash box out of the locked cupboard along with the envelopes and the list of students, and proceeded to divvy out the weekly allowances to each students.

She was nearly finished with the last few envelopes when the door behind her opened and Garbiner walked in, dumping down a small sack of parcels and envelopes that was intended for Rosanna to deliver to the other students whilst delivering the allowances.

"Good morning Rosanna." He said in a surprisingly cheerful mood- well it didn't contain the usual droll tone at any rate.

"Morning Hieronymous, you seem pretty cheerful today?" She smiled at him shyly.

"Well this Saturday I don't have any students attending detention, which is a rather rare occurrence. And so I get to enjoy my Saturday in peace for a change."

"Even Donald hasn't got detention yet?" She asked quizzically, Donald being Virginia's brother who almost always had some form of detention last year.

"Even I was surprised at that one, but sometimes wishes do come true."

"Sir…eh Hieronymous I was wondering what you did over the holiday, other than you know prepare for lessons?" She asked him focusing on the envelopes she was sorting and avoiding his gaze.

"Well I took a brief spell in England, to sort out some family affairs, and then I took a small crash course on brushing up on my Green magic – yes even I still have lots to learn. I managed to take up the flute again, so overall a very productive summer." He was over at the cupboard sorting out some papers as he spoke. He never liked to just sit and chat Rosanna thought to herself whilst trying process all that he had just rambled out.

"That sounds like a heck of a lot to have done in those eight weeks? How come you never mentioned any of it in your letters? How was England? Did you visit your father? Did you attend the short course there?" She blurted out all her questions in quick succession eager to learn more. He turned to her his eyes narrowed frowning.

"You ask too many questions, has anyone ever told you that? I didn't feel I was at liberty to tell you everything that I do in my own personal time." He snapped, and then sighed.

"No I didn't go to visit my father, though he found out I was in England but hopefully that got the old fool complaining about how his only son didn't see his dear old father. The course was in here the states governed by the U.S Magical Association, and England was swell if you like constant rain and yelling at lawyers for a holiday. I assume that answers all your questions to you satisfactory? or would you care to write me another letter full of them." He glared at her still frowning. She had finished sorting the letters and allowances in to relevant piles by this point and was filling with her pen slightly nervous whilst blushing somewhat.

"Yes… sorry Sir if the letters where inappropriate, it's just well I had told you about my holiday, and that's what friends do you know... share stories and information about their lives and such."

His gaze softened slightly and he absently ran this fingers though his long dark hair.

"Well just remember curiosity killed the cat as they say. Now you best be off to deliver those letters. Hmm?"

The second week arrived quickly -this was the freshman introduction week, the week where seniors got to select a freshman and torment them, as part of a 'rite of passage' into the school – making them do silly things such preform a song in the middle of the school grounds or use their magic to preform tricks on one another. Rosanna was glad that this year she just got to watch the antics rather than take part after what happened in her freshman week. Her senior was Damian Ramsey – a student that later got expelled from school, he was a charming demon in his own way (He was quite literally a half-demon) and he made her write a fake love letter to him, which another senior had found and slipped onto Grabiner's desk, who took it as a freshman prank to him and was furious at Rosanna until Damian came forward and explained it all.

Professor Quill was rather fond of the silly rites of passage freshmen had to go though, even though he wasn't a freshman teacher and even applauded when a student burst into the classroom singing "Hello my baby, Hello my honey, hello my ragtime gal!" However Grabiner did not appreciate such a silly tradition and complained about it at least once a day.

"I am aware that this class doesn't have anything much do to with the freshman antics going on this week urge you all not to encourage such foolish behaviour!" He snapped during one of his Blue magic classes on Thursday; "One student has already been in the infirmary for using 'spark' and burning himself whist trying to light an effigy of a dragon and another improperly used 'silence' on another student causing them to lose their voice box entirely."

Murmurs went thought-out the class – how was that even possible?

"Luckily these have been treatable problems but I urge you all to report any misuse of magic –particularly if it involves anything that may cause harm to another student" As he spoke a bright pink letter was slipped under the classroom door with 'To Grabbs -Love John Paterson xxx' clearly written on the envelope in big bold letters so that the front row of students could see it. Grabiner used magic to burn the letter without opening it before storming out of the classroom his face flushed with anger trying to catch the person who had slipped it under the door, leaving the students to giggle.

Later that evening Rosanna fell into a restless sleep, she hadn't been in Grabiner's class but of course had heard people talking about it; a few students had then over exaggerated the story to the point that someone had asked her if she knew that her husband was having an affair the freshman – John Paterson. I know it was a freshman prank, and that Hieronymous wasn't having an affair or anything silly and it's stupid to care really She thought lying in bed looking up at the tiled ceiling it's not like we are really married properly or even dating…even if I wish he did think of me more than a friend or student. She drifted off to sleep with these thoughts and found herself dreaming. She was running down a hundreds of corridors after a skinny dark figure who was off in the distance, no matter how hard she tried she couldn't reach the figure and there was other shadowy creatures looming around her. When she eventually thought she had caught up with the figure it turned out to be Gabiner but his face was distorted and out of focus. He was surrounded what looked like strange demons, part human and part animal. She looked up and before she knew it the demons had lunged towards her determined to destroy her soul and consume her flesh.

Rosanna woke with a start trembling slightly she sat up and looked at the clock; it was 2AM. She then glanced over and noticed Ellen wasn't in her bed. Deciding she didn't want to go straight back to sleep after such a horrible nightmare Rosanna carefully got out of bed and pulled on her dressing gown over her pyjamas and snuck out of the room careful not to wake Virginia. She wondered downstairs without any real purpose just wanting to clear her head, being careful to keep the noise down as she didn't want to be caught outside the dorms after curfew, when she spotted Ellen in the otherwise empty cafeteria, books sprawled out on one desk and a cup on another. She seemed to be focused on the cup.

Rosanna went to greet her friend "What are you doing this late at night?"

Ellen turned around startled and then relaxed when she saw who it was.

"I'm working on my 'teleport other' spell; I just can't get the stupid cup to move. Blue magic has always been my weak point and so some nights when I can't sleep I come down here to practise." She sighed again pulling her own fluffy bright purple dressing gown tighter. "What are you doing up anyway?"

"Bad dream so I just wanted to clear my head a little. I can help you with the spell you know? Shouldn't take a brainiac like you too long to get it. Here let me show you the hand movements for it."

Rosanna happily taught Ellen the spell forgetting about her nightmare but just as Ellen was getting the hang of it there was a loud cough from behind them, both girls jumped out of their skins and turned to see Grabiner leaning against the door-frame his own black dressing gown tied tightly around his skinny frame. He had plain black pyjama bottoms on but no top on under the robe as far as Rosanna could tell.

"As great as learning spells you can't do is, why pray tell me does it have to be at this un-godly hour?" He asked surprisingly calm.

Both Ellen and Rosanna blushed guiltily. Just how long was he watching them for?

"Professor I'm sorry, It's just I can focus more when no other students aren't around, and Rosanna found me, not being able to sleep herself and offered to help me out." Ellen replied avoiding his piercing gaze.

"3AM is not an appropriate time to be doing such things, being you could seek extra tutoring during the day."

Rosanna gawked at him a little forgetting herself, his robe had slipped a bit exposing a pale line of his naked chest.

"We didn't mean to stay out so long really Sir... Sorry I just had a bad dream and well…" Rosanna trailed off watching Grabiner who was re-adjusting his robe haven noticed what she was looking at.

"I am giving you both 10 de-merits and detention this Saturday for breaking curfew, Now I suggest you both go back to BED before I change my mind and increase the amount of de-merits."

With a wave of apologies and 'yes sirs' the girls grabbed up Ellen's books fast as they could and hastily made it back to their dormitory.
