"Sasuke..." His words were barely audible. He didn't think Sasuke even heard him. The raven-haired ninja had finally been located. Naruto had been stunned; none of the circumstances had been expected. Naruto had heard rumors the ninja had been seen in the woods around Konohna. So he went in search for him. He didn't think he would find him this easily.

Now he just stood there, eyes barely roaming over Naruto when the blond ninja had dropped from a tree right in front of him. "....Sasuke?" Naruto asked again, moving closer to the ninja. He briefly wondered if this was a trap and looked around cautiously.

"Stop that. It's only me." Sasuke mumbled. The raven haired nin was covered in dried blood, like he hadn't cared to wash it off and he has small cuts on his hands, forearms and shoulders. The question of how many were self inflicted crossed Naruto's mind. Despite the thought, Naruto grinned, running over to the other and hugging him tightly. And before he could stop himself, his lips were over Sasukes. Just like old times.

Naruto pulled away when Sasuke didn't respond and tilted his head. "...What's wrong? I finally found you. Things can go back to normal!" He pressed his lips to Sasukes again, receiving no response and pulling away. Even whist in the middle of battle, Sasuke had never been able to resist from kissing Naruto at least once.

"I killed them, Naruto. Orochimaru and Itachi. What else have I to live for? The Sasuke you know died along with them." Sasuke said again, his voice hollow and raspy – like he hadn't used it in awhile. Naruto was taken aback and grabbed the sides of Sasukes neck, pulling him close and pressing his forehead against Sasukes. Sasuke didn't even flinch when the cold forehead protector pressed against his skin.

"ME! You can live for me! ... Aren't I enough?" Naruto shouted, kissing Sasuke again, biting his bottom lip harshly, and still receiving no reply. He began to cry. "... Please, Sasuke. Don't tell me you're not there anymore – that the old Sasuke is dead. Don't tell me we have all been in vain. That ... that me searching for all this time to get you back – the old you – was all for nothing!"

Naruto already knew the answer. He had lost his Sasuke the day he left Konohna for Orochimaru. Nothing could bring him back. Now all that was left was an empty shell, after all, when you finish your life's purpose, then what is left but an empty shell.

Naruto let go of Sasukes neck, shaking his head. "Call me dobe! Or stupid! SOMETHING! Please!" Sasuke looked at him, focusing his eyes on the blond for the first time since Naruto found him.

"Dobe." Sasuke said, lacking emotion in the word. Naruto rubbed his eyes, trying to wipe away the tears before looking at Sasuke. He straightened his shoulders and slapped Sasuke across the cheek, watching as his head snapped to the side and his eyes widened slightly. Sasuke turned to look at Naruto and the blond prepaired himself to be hit back, but the blow never came. He felt himself start to cry again.

"...I'm sorry I couldn't save you, Sasuke." Naruto sobbed. "... I have to bring you back though. I promised everyone." He began thinking about how the town would be so overjoyed to have their prodigy back, just to see the state he was in. He cried anew for how Sakura would react.

He grabbed Sasukes hand, pressing a tender kiss to his lips before starting the trek towards Konohna. Naruto shivered; his lips were pale... lifeless. There was no more of the Sasuke Uchiha that Naruto had once known left in this body. Now there was nothing.
