Stargate Atlantis
Another Day at the Office
BeautifulAlice
Summary: Weir tries to deal with an irate Dr. Zelenka who's tired of arguing with Dr. McKay. The gate technician's are all watching, amused, and take bets on what the outcome will be.
Chuck Campbell winced as the latest expletives were made very loudly into the air, and wondered just how loud noise had to be in order for windows to break. While they couldn't see into Dr. Weir's office because of blinds being drawn, they could all hear perfectly well.
Miko came into the Gate Control Room just then, with Dr. Keller.
"Are they at it again?" Dr. Keller asked, sympathetically.
"Just started. Ten bucks on Dr. Weir managing to settle everything down enough for the scientists to go argue elsewhere?" Chuck offered.
"Twenty for Dr. McKay getting what he wants," Miko said quietly, then all of them flinching again as the noises reached a new height…
"Forty for Dr. Weir winning the argument, Dr. McKay getting his ass verbally kicked, and Dr. Zelenka remaining pissed off regardless of Dr. Weir's attempts at soothing tensions," Sheppard said cheerfully as he came up. "Bets going round again, Chuck? Better hope that Dr. Weir doesn't find out,"
"Doesn't find out about what?" Major Lorne came in from behind Sheppard.
"Nothing," Chuck said quickly. "So-" He was about to ask what the two of them were doing there, when the door to Dr. Weir's office opened, and the blinds came up revealing an extremely irate Atlantis leader, and a hostile Czech scientist, along with a frustrated Canadian.
"So? How'd it go?" Sheppard asked Dr. Weir casually, as the scientists both stormed off.
"Well, they aren't happy, but have agreed to work things out elsewhere for the time being-" Dr. Weir began.
"Yes!" Chuck said, realizing that he'd won the bet this round, and had just made at least sixty bucks. He then flushed when everyone looked at him, and Dr. Weir raised an eyebrow. "Er…sorry, ma'am. Talking to someone on the radio," He lied, grateful that he had it on.
She gave him a wry look as though she knew otherwise, but let it slide. Chuck turned away from their discussion, feeling that it wasn't his business. Finally, they finished talking, and they were about to go their separate ways-Miko discretely handing him a twenty-when the gate started up unexpectedly.
It looked like it was going to be another day at the office.
