This is a NaruSaku oneshot. by Moi. Well, me. As in Caili-kun. uhh...yeah. I hate this pairing but after seeing that little mini short about Naruto and Sakura at the festival, I couldn't resist. I get most of my inspiration when walking the dogs. It all works out. So yeah...enjoy.

Rated K+ for one swear word. Damn.

OMG! I almost forgot the disclaimer! Disclaimer: I don't own Naruto. Simply put. If I did...Sakura would be dead...and there would be a character named Caili. Also, ShikaIno would be more than a made up fan fantasy.

Her thoughts wandered towards him. She hadn't seen him for a very long time, to the point where she had forgotten what he looked like. I mean, sure, she remembered the basics. Who could forget his spiky blonde hair and huge grin? But she had forgotten the little things, the color of his eyes, for example. She had been on his team for 8 years with a 3-year absence. She had been asked out on a date with him for as long as she could remember. Way too many times to count, and sometime, during all of this, she had fallen in love with him. She couldn't quite pinpoint the day, but she could pinpoint the day that he broke her heart.

The fireworks blazed overhead. They sat in the same spot they had sat in together since they were sixteen. He sat on the ground, his eyes (brown? green?) reflecting the lights from the explosions. There she sat beside him. Usually she would be happy just to be by his side, but for some reason, he was being unusually distant and quiet. That would be why she was unusually un-happy. It was an unusual day. "What's wrong, Naruto?" The dreaded words came from her mouth with no regard to the consequences that would succeed. "I'm leaving." The words were barely a whisper. So soft, quiet, so…sad. "Every ninja has to go on missions. I understand." "It's not just a normal mission. I am leaving for **** years." (Okay, so the memory wasn't quite as clear as she had made it out to be.) The tears came easily after that. She ran off into the forest, without a goodbye. Some might say, why? Who would just run off like that? The thing is, she had been dreading this day since she had realized she had fallen in love with him. It was just like the incident with Sasuke. She had spilled her heart out to him, and all he did was walk away. She didn't need a repeat so she did what any other teenager would do. She ran away from the problem. She ran away from him. She ran away from his voice, as he screamed her name. She ran away from something some people spend all their lives looking for. She ran away from true love.

After awhile, she got over the fear that Sasuke had given her. She never got over the regret of running away from him. So she left. She left Konoha. She looked for him.

His eyes were blue by the way, and gleaming. He was finally going home and he couldn't wait to see her again. Her pink hair. Her green eyes. He hadn't forgotten one detail of her. But damn. He was going home! His excitement clouded his vision…until he smacked into someone. Her bag dropped. "Ah. Sorry." He picked up her bag and handed it to her. She had beautiful jade eyes and he noticed a lock of vibrant pink hair fall out of her hood and in her face. She brushed it away before thanking him and taking her bag. They then went back to their journeys. Back to there separate paths. Her thoughts were on Naruto. His thoughts were on Sakura. They had no idea.

Awesomeness. What did you think? Review and I will kill someone you hate...xD

I see it now. My character sitting on the side road of Konoha with a cardboard sign that says, "Will kill for reviews."

Draw this for me please!! I will make a fanfiction for you of anything you want. :D

Off topic we go...
