For the Can You Make It To the End Challenge (Round One: 500 words or less about Padma)

"Gryffindor, huh?" Padma asks with a small smile. "Can't say I'm surprised. You were always the brave one."

Parvati shrugs. "And you were always the clever one."

They stare at one another. Neither have to vocalize what they both feel. They've been together literally their whole lives, only separated long enough to deal with their own personal needs. Sometimes, Padma isn't even sure who she is without her twin, and she knows that Parvati has to feel the same.

"Feels strange, doesn't it?" Parvati laughs, nudging her sister. "I don't know what I'm going to do without you."

Padma smiles to herself. It's something she's thought about before. How peaceful it would be without a twin constantly by her side. How different it would be to just be by herself. And yet, now that it's happening, she doesn't know what to do.

"Very strange," she agrees. "Now who's going to borrow my favorite jumper and not give it back?"

Parvati scowls. "I don't know what you're talking about," she says.

"Paravti!" a girl that Padma remembers as Lavender from the Sorting ceremony calls, gesturing her forward.

"I'd better go. We were supposed to try and find something to get into."

"Well, I hope she has cute jumpers," Padma teases.

With a smirk Parvati waves to her. Padma watches as she goes, sighing. Parvati seems to already be adjusting to this new life, and yet Padma hasn't had a chance. She wonders if she ever will.

"Oi! Patil! We're heading to the lake," Anthony Goldstein tells her, grinning. "Coming?"

Padma feels the hesitation. She hasn't done much without Parvati, and part of her wants to wait for her sister to join them.

But she nods and moves closer to her Housemate. It's time to find herself.
