Contrary to popular belief, when Kakashi is late, he does not spend all his time at Obito's. Obito's already there all the time, so he sees no need to be with the Uchiha boy. Sure, he mourns him, he always does, but he's not constantly at the memorial. Hell, when he's there, it's more likely he's mourning the mother he never got to know. (she died sweet and pretty and clean and young, twenty one and funeral songs he sung)
Contrary to popular belief, when Kakashi is late, he does not spend all his time at Obito's. He spends it at Rin's. (flower girls in summer sun, went away when war was done)
The girl spends all her time in the Kimihiro household, the run-down buildings smiling at him whenever he goes to visit. Sometimes, Rin will be smiling at him, like the stone walls. Other times, she's going to scream and thrash about. He doesn't mind. Rin's his only family now. (dying flowers in winter night, pale corpse skin of gray and white)
The floor is moldy. He'll have to clean it up soon... No, might as well clean it up now. He'll only be half an hour late if he leaves to meet up with his team. And today, Rin's just staring. He knows she won't eat if he doesn't make her, so he'll stay. Kakashi briefly wonders what excuse he'll make this time. Yeah, he'll just borrow Obito's, the one about tripping and losing his contacts and having to go find them. Yes. He remembers that one well. (eleven years and dressed in red, bodies fall and go to bed)
Sometimes, when he leaves her house, she calls his name. Other times, she calls Obito's. And others, she doesn't say anything at all. Just cries. (cherry blossoms pale and pink, lost to sky before you blink)
She wasn't meant to be a soldier. She isn't meant to be a sister. She is just Rin, a girl who smiles and smiles but never sees. (silver doves take flight and cry, "here the ravens fall and die")
