Title: when faced with the death of one of the own

Disclaimer: Me no own, you no sue.

Warning: None

Note: Just something that came to me while watching the season finale. No spoilers.

Cops, soldiers, agents – they're separated from the rest of humanity in ways that are beyond a civilian's comprehension.

For example: when faced with the death of one of their own, it's not uncommon for little or no emotion to be shown.

But, don't get this wrong.

For each and every one of them will go home, take a shower, and – in the darkness of their seclusion or in the arms of a trusted lover – they will cry themselves to sleep that night.

And in the morning – when they return to work – no one will talk about it. They won't talk about how long they cried, how when they looked in the mirror that morning to brush their teeth they saw ghosts who whispered pallid songs of forgiveness.

It's just one of those things that happen when faced with the death of one of their own.

END.
